Pr OF HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN LAMPS SIGNED DESSARTPair of beautiful European hand painted porcelain lamps depicting a young girl in green dress. Verso of each lamp has an enchanting landscape scene. Each lamp is mounted with bronze handles having satyr heads and scrolled leaf design. 19th century. Each vase measures approx. 13 height (33cm). Overall height of 33 1/4" height (84.4cm). Total weight of 5.2 kilograms.
GWR enamel Lamp Tablet ARLEY, white lettering on black with top flange. Measures 17½" x 3" and is in extremely good condition. The station, between Highley and Bewdley on the Kidderminster - Shrewsbury line, opened in February 1862. It closed on the 9 September 1963. The station was re-opened on 18 May 1974 as an integral part of the preserved Severn Valley Railway.
GWR 1947 mahogany cased lamp in Lamp out indicator, needle type, complete with Ivorine plate 3.7.37.40.42.43 and original R.E.Thompson makers plate , in ex signalbox condition. Together with GWR mahogany cased lamp in Lamp out indicator , flag type, complete with Ivorine plate 1.2.4.8.38 and original R.E.Thompson makers plate , in ex signalbox condition. Both as removed from Llynfi Power Station signal box, which was on the Tondu to Abergwynfi branch.
Pullman Table Lamp in `Grecian Urn` style with a square base clearly stamped `CECILIA` on the lowest rim. Lacks shade but in excellent condition and standing 20” tall. Built as a Kitchen Car in 1927 by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company It was on the 13th April 1946 part of the set for the press run prior to the re-launch of the Golden Arrow after the War, also on the 21st June 1949 it formed part of the train that carried the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh from Waterloo to Weymouth for their visit to the Channel Islands. Additionally, on 21st November 1950 it was used for the state visit of Queen Juliana & Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, between Dover and Victoria.
GWR C/I Lamp Post complete with original GWR Lamp fitted to the top. The post is 95" high and is tastefully embossed `GWR Co., Hardy & Padmore, Worcester`. The lamp has a wonderful makers plate attached `W. Parkinson & Co., Incorporated in Parkinson & Cowan, London & Birmingham`. To be collected from the Vendor`s premises near Taunton. Note: Hardy & Padmore, the Worcester Foundry, was established in 1814 and famously manufactured the Foregate Street Railway Bridge in the heart of the City and also, surprisingly, the beautiful `Dolphin` Lamps on Westminster Embankment, London.
North Eastern Railways Copper Ships lamp vessel, brass plated `N.E.R.. D. ET. ST. Hercules`. Complete with a Sherwoods burner, measures 5½ x 8½ x 5” tall. HERCULES was an 82-ton British registered steam tug built in 1893 by Cook, Welton & Gemmell Hull starting its career there for The LNER at the Dock Co. In 1922 it moved to the London & North Eastern Railway Co, London Docks and in 1936 went to South Stockton Shipbreaking Co Ltd, Stockton-On-Tees and subsequently purchased in 1936 by William Pace Robson, St Anthony`s-on-Tyne. On The 22nd November 1940, it was sunk off Tynemouth after hitting a German mine. A great rarity indeed.
Pullman Table Lamp in `Grecian Urn` style with a square base clearly stamped `ADRIAN` on the lowest rim. Lacks shade but in excellent condition and standing 20” tall. Built as a first class kitchen car by Birmingham C&W in October 1925. Originally sold to Wagons Lits and used on the Milan – Cannes service with sister cars `LYDIA` and `IBIS`. Returned to Britain in 1928 and used on both the Southern Railway and the London North Eastern Railway services including `The Golden Arrow`, `The Bournemouth Belle` and `The Yorkshire Pullman`. Withdrawn in August 1966 and cut up at Long Marston in January 1967.
Pullman Table Lamp in `Grecian Urn` style with a square base clearly stamped `MIMOSA` on the lowest rim. Lacks shade but in excellent condition and standing 20” tall. Built as a 12 wheel Kitchen Car by Birmingham C&W in 1914, it became part of the famous Marazion Camping Coach collection in 1962 when withdrawn from service. Fortunately it has been preserved and is currently at the Old Station Hotel, Petworth.
A pair of tasteful lamps comprising: NER 3 aspect Handlamp with pie-crust top, rear and top handle and having the original NER reservoir and an LNE burner. Brass plated on the side with company initials, it is also stamped such on the reducing cone and inside the lens cowl. A very nice lamp throughout; an LMS 3 aspect Handlamp, slatted glass variety, complete with BR(M) embossed reservoir and a BR/LMR burner. Nicely embossed on the chimney and the side with company initials and also stamped in both places with `C1432`. Good condition throughout.
GWR brass Waiting Room Lamp along with a Signal Box Lamp reservoir and a couple of other similar fittings. Together with British Railways Water Carriers, qty 3. Two are identical, large style with brass fitted taps and swinging handle on top and embossed `BR`. The other is slightly smaller embossed `BR Sc` and has fixed handles top and rear. All three are in extremely good condition.
