HORNBY O Gauge 20V E320 LMS Maroon 4-4-2 'Royal Scot' and No 2 LMS 3 axle Maroon Tender. Both Excellent Plus. The locomotive body and Motor are Excellent Plus but the wheels are showing signs of fatigue. Housed in an original Green Box with minor tape repairs to 2 lid corners with the original corrugated Orange wrapper with Green end Keeps, a Lamp Pack, Combined Rail Gauge, Screwdriver and Spanner Pack (4/38 missing screwdriver), original Instructions (6/37), Hornby Membership Form and Guarantee (both 38) - the latter showing purchase on 14/1/39. The Tender Box is also Excellent with original Tissue Paper.
A Chinese cloisonné vase with ovoid body decorated with flowers and trumpet shaped neck CONDITION REPORTS 37.5 cm high Overall with some wear and scuffs, an area of denting and mis-shaping to the top rim which has caused the enamels to crack and there are various losses to enamels to this area, very irregular and uneven and scratched to the underside of the base and most of the enamel is missing to the underside of base, two holes drilled to the edge of the foot rim and some glue around these holes, a roughly rectangular shaped area to the inner rim of the neck (please see photos) - possibly where vase may previously have been converted to table lamp at some point, both foot rim and top rim have metal banding surrounding the rims and evidence of some chips and losses around the rims (bandings probably added as a repair), surface of enamels generally fairly matt (not glossy) and have various pitting.
AFTER GIAMBOLOGNA "The Fowler" or bird catcher, bronze, on a plinth base, together with a bronze figural candlestick as a cherub holding aloft a flower and a pair of carved and painted wooden flower models CONDITION REPORTS The fowler: missing a piece from his right hand, has pitting, there is a knock to the "lamp cage". The candle stick: the cherub has been off and re-soldered at an angle, there is pitting, part of its wing is off and missing. Both items in need of a clean, and have wear and tear conducive to age and use . Flowers unknown if complete, have general wear and tear. Large statue has some wear to the shovel, small chip, item to his right hand is missing. Wooden plinth looks new. Various marks and scratches. Smaller statue - repair to foot and base, various signs of repairs throughout, dents, marks, scratches.
A pair of modern baluster shaped table lamps with blue and white trailing foliate decoration, a pair of Oriental style table lamp bases decorated in terracotta and flowering branches, together with two leather covered waste paper baskets and a small square tapestry upholstered foot stool with brass feet
A pair of Meissen relief work decorated vase shaped lamp bases, a Dresden porcelain candlestick / centre piece base, a Dresden porcelain pot pourri vase and cover and a Dresden (un-marked) porcelain floral encrusted pot and cover (5) CONDITION REPORTS Pair of lamp bases: putti all have missing limbs, heads have been off and one has been remoulded. There is loss to the paint work, various chips, knocks etc to the flowers. Various touch up paint all over. The candle stick: one cherub's wing is off and missing, chips to the others. Chipping etc. to all decoration. The sconce appears to have been re-glued in position. Pot pourri lid has been completely broken and re-glued, the base appears to have been off as well. There is losses/chipping to all the decoration. Lidded pot: one handle has been broken off and is missing. Damage to the decoration. All items have general wear conducive to age and use to include rubbing to the paint work, losses, nibbles etc. and are filthy.
Two pairs of glass table lamps, together with a further glass table lamp CONDITION REPORTS Wires have been cut - will need rewiring. It is not known whether bulb holders work. One light of each pair has nibbling to bottom rim. Larger lamp - base is not sturdy. Circular pair approx 30cm high including fitting. Square pair approx 22cm high incl fitting. Single one is approx 56cm high incl fitting.
Nightingale, Florence (1820-1910). Founder of modern professional nursing. During the Crimean War she trained and managed a group of nurses that tended to wounded soldiers. She became known as "The Lady with the Lamp" as she made her rounds of the hospital each night. Partly Printed Document Signed, 1 page, 2 1/2 " x 5 ½." "Hospital." [Barrack Hospital, Scutari.] February 10, 1856. "Required for the "Bk" Hospital." "Request for 10 lbs. Linseed Meal." Minor soiling, but overall in fine condition.
