Property of a gentleman; previously from a German collection formed in the early 1980s. The volute krater formed part of the assemblage of drinking materials to be used at a symposium, such as cups, wine strainers, etc. The decoration on this example would suggest that it was manufactured in one of the Greek colonies of South Italy. .
