A small terracotta slipper-shaped oil lamp with radiating strokes to the upper face, nozzle with scroll decoration, animal-head handle to the rear, basal ring with scrolls to the underside. 64 grams, 94mm (3 3/4"). 1st century BC-1st century AD. A small terracotta oil lamp with broad discus, pellets to the upper face, short D-shaped nozzle, handle to the rear formed as a human face with pellet eyes, dimple to the underside. 78 grams, 98mm (4"). Acquired on the London art market prior to 1980. [No Reserve] Fine condition.
Late Period, 664-332 BC. A mixed group comprising: a discoid terracotta ovoid lamp with wreath detail to the shoulder; a blue and white glazed composition shabti; two blue glazed composition shabtis with black text to the lower body. 310 grams total, 8.5 - 11cm (3 3/4 - 4 1/4"). From a South West London collection; formed 1990-2000. [4, No Reserve] "Fair condition; one shabti's feet absent, one broken, one with part of glazed surface absent."

A bronze lamp with broad discus and volute nozzle flanked by two horns; raised rim to the discus, concentric rings to the underside; long recurved handle with bifid connection to the body, developing to a horse-head finial. 210 grams, 13.5cm (5 1/4"). Property of a Surrey collector; acquired in the early 1970s. "Fine condition, handle repaired."

A hollow-cast lamp with flared base, collared nozzle with broad dished spout and segmented collar behind, hinged lid with dome and knop handle, loop handle to the rear with leaf-shaped reflector and piercings; square-section socket to the underside. 272 grams, 12.5cm (5"). 2nd century AD. A terracotta discoid lamp with pierced lug handle to the rear, D-shaped nozzle; ring-and-dot motifs to the shoulder, billetted band to the nozzle; to the discus, a high-relief standing figure with right hand raised to the face and sceptre supported in the left hand (Harpocrates?); to the underside, an extensive impressed maker's mark. The Egyptian cult of the child-god Horus was adopted by the Greeks as Harpocrates (??????????), regarded as a youthful god associated with silence and secret knowledge. The Roman Empire adopted a variety of eastern mystery cults, including those of Mithras, Isis, Harpocrates and Serapis. Harpocrates was usually depicted with his right index finger raised to his chin and lips, interpreted by the Greek as a gesture of silence but actually derived from the Egyptian hieroglyph for 'child'. 59 grams, 96mm (3 3/4"). A large ceramic oil lamp with broad nozzle and raised rim, lug handle to the rear, concentric rings to the underside; to the discus an outer band of fish and hooks (?) surrounding a tall footed platter. 182 grams, 14cm (5 1/2"). English private collection; acquired in the 1970s. Very fine condition.
A large and impressive Tiffany style glass lamp all hand made by stained glass artist David Warren in 1989. Height 42" (107cm). Vendor advises that this lamp was on loan to the stained glass museum in Ely Cathedral for 4 years until recently. Illuminated by 3 bulbs in base, 1 in central column and 1 under shade. Electrically tested.
