He is closely associated with the role of PC George Dixon, which he played in the 1950 film The Blue Lamp and later in the television series Dixon of Dock Green from 1955 until 1976, but he was also for some years one of Great Britain's most popular film stars. The chassis with twin outside cylinders and having hardwood lagging with polished brass banding, cross-head guides, inline water pump, clack, brakes operated from footplate, sanding gear, Stephenson s reverse gear with eccentric s fitted to centre drive wheel. The model finished in dark maroon lined livery with fitted hand-railed, steps and lamp irons with lamps. Locomotive length 50cm. Cab width 14cm.
A well-engineered 2 ½ inch gauge model of a 4-8-4 side tank locomotive Helen Long No 1000, the copper boiler with fittings including twin water sight glasses, regulator, safety, pressure gauges, drains, direction screw control, tools boxes and checker plate cab flooring. The chassis with twin outside cylinders, Walschaert s valve gear, fluted motion, twin ratchet oilers, clack and injector. The model finished in green lined livery with detailed rivet work and fitted with handrails, steps, lamp irons and vacuum hoses. The model comes together with a display track. Locomotive length 77cm. An exhibition quality built 5 inch gauge model of a Great Western Railway 4-4-0 'Bulldog' tender locomotive No 3433, built by Mr Bob Wilkinson of Somerset. The silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including pressure gauge, water sight-glass, drains, regulator with lubrication linkage, direction control and drip oilers. Cab with simulated plank flooring, driver s seats and cab controlled cylinder drain cock operation. The chassis with twin outside cylinders having Stephenson s valve gear. The six wheel tender with fitted brakes, tool boxes, vents, axle boxes and suspension. The model finished in Great Western Railway green and black livery with fitted steps and hand rails, detailed rivet-work, spring suspension, vacuum hoses and lamp irons. Total length 153cm. Cab width 23cm. Boiler History: Boiler Identity No 12828/2 Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies Boiler Test Records. An exhibition standard 5 inch gauge historic model of a North Western Railway Crampton 2-2-2-2 locomotive with tender Liverpool , the boiler being lagged and finished in plate-work. Fittings including Salter s type twin safety valves, sight-glass and pressure gauge not present, direction control lever. Chassis details include twin outside cylinders with metal cladding and having polished brass capping. Stephenson s reverse valve gear, leaf springs to front and rear axles, lubricator, wooden buffers on metal, wooden beams and other original detailed features. Six wheel tender with detailed rivet-work and water cocks. The model finished in green and black lined North Western Railway livery with brass plaque Crampton Patent Bury Curtis & Kennedy Engineers Liverpool. No 355 fitted steps, hand-irons, lamp irons with lamps, brightwork and polished copper chimney cap. Length 158cm. Cab Width 32cm. Height to top of chimney 37cm. The model mounted on display track with plinth concealing motorised drive for display purposes. * This locomotive would appear to have never been steamed and it is our opinion that the model was built for display purposes to a very high standard. * The full size Crampton type locomotive was introduced in 1846 by Thomas Crampton and used extensively in Europe until the end of the 19th Century and were most successful on the fast and light expresses of that period.
A fine exhibition quality 5 inch gauge model of a 4-4-0 Great Western Railway Armstrong No 7 tender locomotive, based on the original design by William Dean. The copper boiler having fittings including steam regulator, water sight-glass, lever operated fire-doors, screw reverse and drains with associated copper pipework. No pressure gauge fitted. Simulated plank flooring to cab. The chassis with twin inside cylinders and Stephenson s reverse, fluted connecting rods and fitted leaf springs. The six wheel tender with fitted tool boxes, steps, hand-irons and guide rails. The model finished in traditional Great Western Railway green livery with fitted steps, hand irons, lamp irons and vacuum hoses with name plate Armstrong and crests to splasher. The model comes complete with display track and glazed display case on plinth. Locomotive and tender Length 158cm. Cab width 22cm. Height 38cm. Display case: Length 206cm. Depth 40cm. Height 75cm. -197 * This locomotive has never been steamed and appears to have been on display from the time it was built. * William Dean designer of the original full size locomotive was born on the 8th of January 1840 and died the 4th of September 1905 he was the second son of Henry Dean, manager of the Hawes soap factory in New Cross, London William was educated at the Haberdashers Company School. He became the Chief Locomotive Engineer for the Great Western Railway from 1877, when he succeeded Joseph Armstrong. He retired from the post in 1902 and was replaced by George Jackson Churchward. He designed famous steam locomotive classes such as the Duke Class, the Bulldog class and the long-lived 2301 Class.

The chassis with twin outside cylinders and internal Stephenson s valve gear, motion with connecting guides, safety valve, clack and water injector. The six wheel tender with fitted rails and hand operated feed pump. The model finished in traditional Great Northern Railway green and black lined livery with cab port-hole windows framed in brass, fitted steps, vacuum hoses, hand and lamp irons. Length 148cm. Cab width 20cm. * Boiler History: Past boiler certificates. Bournemouth & District Society of Model Engineers. No. 1079. Hydraulic Test Pressure 120 psi. Working pressure 80 psi. Dated 28th of August 1984.
A fine exhibition quality 7 ¼ inch gauge model of the Great Western Railway Class 3700 4-4-0 tender locomotive No.3440 'City of Truro', built by David Aitken to the design of the original by George Jackson Churchward, with brazed superheated copper boiler, fittings including water gauge with shut off lever, pressure gauges, safety, blower and clack valves, two whistles, the fine quality cab detail including condensing coil for the hydrostatic lubricator in the roof, regulator connected with lubricator valve, bell system, seats, drip oil feeds, lever operated fire doors, vacuum brake, control and reverse lever, chassis detail including twin inside cylinders with Stephenson's link reverse, mechanical lubricator, sand boxes, working leaf springs, rivet detail and brake gear, the tender with plaque 1506 'Swindon Works May 1903', 3000 gallon design with water valves and water level gauge, water scoop, detailed rivet work, toolboxes, vents, water cocks, hand feed pump, brake gear, steps, handrails and lamp irons, finished in lined Great Western green and black lined livery with venetian red chassis, 225cm long, 31cm wide. A well-engineered 2 inch scale model of a Shand Mason horse drawn fire engine, built by the late Mr Ivor Dolling of Chesham from the Edgar T Westbury drawings and Reeves castings, the model with vertical copper boiler having J tubes, normal steam fittings, twin cylinder live steam engine with cylinder head lubricators, scotch cranks, eccentric driven feed pump with stop cocks, twin spoked flywheels and twin direct coupled water pumps with changeover lever, water tanks, suction and delivery hose, chassis and body details include spoked wooden wheels with metal rims, turning lock, coal bunker, driver's seat with brass rail to back, box body with foot rest, brake gear, bell, lamp brackets and brass lamps. The model finished in red and black paintwork with signwriting Chesham District Council and dated 1894, Length 56cm. Width 28cm. Height 37cm.
