They have different fittings to the bulb heads and a slightly different metal colour. The bases: with inevitable scuffs, scratches, dents and marks commensurate with wear, use and age. Tarnishing and dirt. The wiring has been replaced and no loner with original sockets or components. One lamp retains its turning switches at the top as part of the actual bulb socket (see image), but the other lamp doesn’t and these are slightly different fitments - see images. The bases are also slightly different colours, with one retaining a brassy lacquer and other with a more visible copper content. The shades: with inevitable  small hairline cracks to the different sections in areas, side images. Otherwise general irregularities as is the nature of the glass technique. Other areas of dirt, scuffs and scratches. One section around the top is missing one lamp.

Lacking the light fitting and band that affixes below the arms, leaving drill holes for the fittings. There are a number of lamps of this design bearing the signature M. Meliodon. According to some research this could have been be cast after J.A Meliodon left Paris for America, and possibly the JA are blended in but the sculptor was no longer available to verify the work.. However, this is speculation. For further discussion see ‘Art Nouveau Craftwork & Industry’ Meliodon signature .

AN ART NOUVEAU GILT-BRASS AND FROSTED GLASS TABLE LAMP IN THE FORM OF A DRAGONFLY AND FLOWEREarly 20th Century Modelled as a dragonfly perched on a flower, mounted with pink glass facets with frosted glass wings, 52cm highThe unusual Art Nouveau lamp design is dominated by thisdragonfly, which hovers over a poppy flower, its wings atypically folded and itsabdomen composed of faceted glass strung drops. One is partly missing, another with just the first bead remaining and other strings fully missing. There is a pierced collar with loops for the strings of glass facets, which is partially concealed.  See additional images.  One wing with a thinner tip to the others, although it is smooth suggesting possible historic repair (photographed) and the chipped area has been smoothed down and is less noticeable.  Other lights small abrasions and general wear commensurate with use and age. Tarnishing and rubbing to the surfaces with gilding rubbed. See images. General wear and marks to the metal lamp. We cannot guarantee the working order of this lamp and it will require updated wiring to be PAT tested.

Standing on green marble display base with title plaque. Hallmarked to the base for London 1976, & makers mark C J L. Length approx. 19cm. Approx. 666.2g. (21.42 t. oz.)
