A parquetry and marquetry table lamp, late 19th century, inlaid in contrasting coloured woods with lozenge parquetry to the canted tapered column and with birds to the square base, with a turned and mirrored top, 52cm high CONDITION REPORT: A hole in one corner of the base formerly taking an electricity cable in a rebate along the underside to the column. Now the cable enters through a hole in the side of the base. Shade scuffed and marked, slightly dented, maybe faded? 67cm high to top of shade.
*Andre Wallace (b.1947), 'STREET LIGHT' a mixed metal sculpture of an embracing couple beside a lamp post, their dog standing to one side of the paved octagonal base, mounted on a wooden plinth, 54cm high 59cm diameter With copies of correspondence between Mr Chapman and Andre Wallace. Born in Taunton, Wallace studied at the Somerset College of Art from 1965-67. He continued his studies by attending the Royal College of Art from 1971-3 when he was awarded the Sainsbury Prize for Sculpture. In the following years he has been commissioned to create sculptures for public spaces in the UK and has held solo exhibitions. *Artist's Resale Right may apply to this lot. CONDITION REPORT: Lampshade missing. Figures 'pitted'. Requires cleaning.
A late 19th century cast metal oil lamp base with scrolling detail raised on three paw supports with cranberry tinted embossed glass reservoir with floral detail and with etched glass shade, the burner marked Messenger together with a 19th century cranberry glass claret jug with clear glass stopper and handle and a 19th century box with inlaid mother of pearl floral and leaf decoration to the lid
