A cased silver-plated Regimental column lampunmarkedThe central column entwined with a laurel band, surmounted with the screw fitting oil reserve, flanking the column and surmounted on the base are three figures in varying historic Regimental Uniforms, below is an ebonised wood plinth with applied open-work badge of 'The King's Hussars', a crowned heart with motto 'DOE OR DIE' for the Douglas family and a silver presentation shield, hallmarks for Carrington & Co, London 1919, engraved 'Presented to Capt. G.V.Scott Douglas by his brother officers on his marriage 15th July 1924', all on a circular base with a ribbon and laurel band engraved with nine Regimental Honours of the 15th Kings Hussars from 'Emsdorff' to 'Afghanistan 1878-80' from raised on three claw feet, with glass chimney, the oak travelling case with applied brass name plaque to Capt.G.V.Scott Douglas, height without chimney 62cm.Footnotes:Captain George Francis Valentine Scott Douglas was born on 14 February 1898. He was the son of Francis John Scott Douglas and Fanny Augusta Tapps Gervis Meyrick. He married Lady Blanche Linnie Somerset, daughter of Henry Adelbert Wellington FitzRoy Somerset, 9th Duke of Beaufort and Louise Emily Harford, and widow of the 6th Earl of St. Germans on 15 July 1924.During the First World War he served in France and Flanders from 23rd March 1917. He attained the rank of Captain in the 15th Hussars, retiring in 1924.He died on 12 June 1930, at the age of 32, in a polo accident.His son James Louis Fitzroy Scott Douglas, was born posthumously on 24 October 1930, and became the 6th Baronet Douglas, of Springwood Park. On his death the baronetcy became extinct.
