He was the son of Francis John Scott Douglas and Fanny Augusta Tapps Gervis Meyrick. He married Lady Blanche Linnie Somerset, daughter of Henry Adelbert Wellington FitzRoy Somerset, 9th Duke of Beaufort and Louise Emily Harford, and widow of the 6th Earl of St. Germans on 15 July 1924.During the First World War he served in France and Flanders from 23rd March 1917. He attained the rank of Captain in the 15th Hussars, retiring in 1924.He died on 12 June 1930, at the age of 32, in a polo accident.His son James Louis Fitzroy Scott Douglas, was born posthumously on 24 October 1930, and became the 6th Baronet Douglas, of Springwood Park.
