Metal lamp with Chinese elements. The central figure is a mythical chimera called a qilin 骑楼, often employed as a tomb guardian. A qilin has a dragon-like head, hooved feet, a deer-like body embellished with fish scales; it is gentle and considered an auspicious omen.On the other side of the lamp is a phoenix -- also a mythical creature. The qilin and the phoenix are two of four sacred animals (the others being dragon and turtle).This lamp is in the shape of an urn with handles. Unknown as to working condition.Size: 16 x 8 in.

Fitted with curved mud guards, brass rein rail, lamp brackets and adjustable seats accessed via the rear door. There are fitted sign boards with the front board sign written 'S. L. H Contractors'. Won the Best 1940's Trade Vehicle at an Easter Parade. Approx. measurements: 74ins wide x 6ft 5ins long x 85ins high, length of shafts 82ins, 27ins at their narrowest. VICTORIA built by Jul. Stein, Berlin circa 1900 to suit 15 to 17hh pair. Painted yellow and black with green lining. On 10/12-spoke Warner wheels with elliptic springs and brass hub caps engraved with the maker’s name. Fitted with sweeping leather-covered mud guards, hood and dashboard; a wicker umbrella basket, lamp brackets, handbrake, and to be sold with a pole. In need of restoration. WAGONETTE built by F.A. Carl Wolf or F.A. Kadner & Co., of Rosswein, Germany circa 1890 to suit 14.2 to 15.2hh single or pair. A smart vehicle painted black with gold lining. On 37.5/45ins, 12/14-spoke English pattern varnished wheels with elliptic springs. The brass hub caps are metal banded and the trace hooks are of an unusual design with a leather securing strap, both typical of Continental manufacture. Fitted with brass whip holder, lamp brackets, mud guards, footbrake and large steps for easy access. The rear door, decorated with an image of a gunman and his dog, allows access to face to face seating upholstered in black buttoned leatherette. Sold with shafts and a pole. The axle is stamped Rosswein which is in Saxony in Germany and at the time had two carriage manufacturers: F.A. Carl Wolf and F.A. Kadner & Co. Very smooth, comfortable ride. Placed in private carriage collection 2004 to 2019. The wheels have been retyred, the wood brake renewed, and was partly repainted for use in Attelage and family outings.
