The torch was subsequently given in payment for a bar bill by the Marine at The Beach Brow Hotel in Deal, the landlady, Nellie Wakefield, and thence by descent to the present vendor Note : This was one of eighty torches carried on the section between Dover and Wembley in 73 stages covering some 255 kilometres
