An exhibition quality 3 1/2 inch gauge model of the GWR Prairie 2-6-2 side tank Locomotive No 4588 'Firefly', built by Mr J Bibby of Worthing & District Society of Model Engineers to the Late Martin Evans design with silver soldered copper boiler and fittings including water and pressure gauges, safety, blower, twin injectors, brake, whistle, clack and blowdown valves.Chassis detail including twin outside cylinders 1 inch bore x 1 1/2 inch stroke with inside Stephenson's link reverse, fluted connecting rods, cylinder drains, cylinder head pressure relief valve, ratchet lubricator, two injectors, whistle, brake gear, working leaf springs to coupled axles, sanding boxes and pipes, fine rivet detail, coal bunker, steps, hand and lamp irons. The model finely finished in GWR green livery with polished brightwork..Modifications from the original Martin Evans drawings are that the locomotive has no on board water supply, this is now supplied via inlet and outlet pipes through the rear buffer beam. The original water tanks have been filled with ten pounds of lead shot which helps greatly with no wheel spin when transporting two adult people. . Boiler History : The locomotive comes with a new four year hydraulic boiler test certificate issed by The Worthing & District ME. Certificate No SF 113386. Test pressure applied 135 psi. Working Pressure 90 psi. Safety Valve set at 90 psi. Certificate Expires the 12th of October 2012. Signed by Boiler Inspector D.C.Marshall. Length 27 3/4 inches

A well engineered 5 inch gauge 0-4-2 GWR 14xx side tank locomotive, built to Neville Evans 'Didcot' designs. The copper superheated boiler with Belpaire firebox, boiler feed by injector, axle pump with by-pass and auxiliary hand pump in bunker. Inside cylinders with Stephensons valve gear actuated by lever reverse in cab, drain cocks, Cab with pressure gauge, sight glass, regulator and other usual fittings, fitted ratchet oiler with eccentric drive from back axle. The locomotive detailed with lamp irons, hand rails, steps and tool boxes, cab plate, rivet detail to bunker and tanks. Finished in Great Western livery. . No boiler history available. Length 79cm. Width 23cm. Height 32cm.

Chassis detail including twin outside cylinders. Bores 1 11/16th by Stroke 2 7/16th. with slide valves, Walschearts gear, connecting rods, cylinder drains, displacement lubricator, two injectors, whistle, brake gear, working leaf springs to coupled axles, rivet detail, hand feed pump, steps, hand and lamp irons. Eight wheel tender with hand feed pump. The model finished in WD blue and red livery. . Past Boiler History: Liskeard Model Society certificate number 10560, Working pressure 100 psi. Expired the 6th of October 2001. Total Length 71 inches (178cm). The model comes complete with a test bed and travelling cases.
