Ca. 100 AD.A bronze oil lamp in the shape of a male head with a neat beard possibly Pan or Silenus. The face has large eyes and a large opening for the mouth used to fill the lamp with oil. The head also has a small spout for a wick and a hanging hook on the nose bridge to aid suspension. Ca. 300 AD.A terracotta oil lamp of Loeschcke type VIII. It has a circular handle and a workshop mark on the bottom. It also features a recessed discus depicting the myth of Leda and the Swan. The composition features Leda, nude, standing with arms oustretched and underneath the swan. The swan, one of Zeus' many disguises, lies back with wings oustretched behind him. This union of divine and mortal produced the famous Helen of Troy, Clytemnestra, and the twins Castor and Polydeuces. Accompanied by a TL test from Ralf Kotalla laboratory, Germany, confirming age and authenticity.
