Set of twentry five original vintage advertising posters for the English stage pantomime productions. Five posters of each pantomime production are included in this lot. 1. Mother Goose, featuring a great colourful artwork showing Mother Goose holding a broom while riding a huge flying goose across a starry night sky under the watch of a smiling full moon. This poster was printed by the theatrical printers Taylor's of Wombwell, in Yorkshire, who were leading lithographic printers of posters for provincial theatres during the 1930s.; 2. Mother Goose, featuring a central colourful image showing Mother Goose and Priscilla the goose standing by a smiling tree while further along the dirt path, a young couple is sitting on a wooden gate looking at the full moon. This poster was printed by the theatrical printers Taylor's of Wombwell, in Yorkshire, who were leading lithographic printers of posters for provincial theatres during the 1930s. ; 3. Cinderella, featuring a great colourful artwork showing Cinderella in her somptuous ballgown dancing with the prince. This poster was printed by the theatrical printers Taylor's of Wombwell, in Yorkshire, who were leading lithographic printers of posters for provincial theatres during the 1930s. ; 4. Dick Whittington, featuring a great colourful artwork showing Dick Whittington (played here by a young woman, as pantomime traditionally employs gender-crossing actors), sitting alongside his black cat, with the city of London depicted in the background. This pantomime was based on the story of Dick Whittington and His Cat, the English folklore surrounding the real-life Richard Whittington (c. 1354–1423), wealthy merchant and later Lord Mayor of London. The legend describes his rise from poverty-stricken childhood with the fortune he made through the sale of his cat to a rat-infested country. Since the pre-Victorian era, the story has been a favourite subject of British pantomime, especially during Christmas season. This poster was printed by the theatrical printers Taylor's of Wombwell, in Yorkshire, who were leading lithographic printers of posters for provincial theatres during the 1930s. ; 5. Aladdin, featuring a central and colourful image showing Aladdin (played here by a young woman, as pantomime traditionally employs gender-crossing actors), standing in the cave holding a necklace in one hand and the magical lamp in the other. This poster was printed by the theatrical printers Taylor's of Wombwell, in Yorkshire, who were leading lithographic printers of posters for provincial theatres during the 1930s.
