A c1882 Thomas Humber 'Cripper' Tricycle. The Automatic-Steerer model, it has 40-inch driving wheels propelled by a good quality inch-pitch block chain, and a 24-inch steering wheel, the wheels all with good, useable black rubber solid tyring. The 25-inch wide handlebars with good turned wooden grips hold a stout nickel-plated lever which operates the Humber patented plunger brake with its control operated through the centre of the headstock; an interesting design. There are foot rests mounted to the front forks with block rubber grips, a lamp bracket and front mudguard. This tricycle is complete and highly useable, but the frame needs painting.
A Raleigh Path Racer, having a 24-inch frame numbered 336680, with a black email finish (possibly original) with logos and 'All Steel' motif. Nickel-plated semi-drop 20-inch handlebars, inverted lever operating a stirrup brake, fixed wheel gearing, tangent spoked wooded wheels and 26-inch Avon Cord tyres. A Brooks B15 saddle is fitted, as is an unusual lamp bracket designed for handlebars with a forward extension with a battery lamp and bell fitted.
AFC Sky Princess Child's Tricycle. A stylised and fully enclosed tricycle in an 'Airflow' style, of American manufacture, with its original red coachwork, some brightwork and an electric lamp (not in operation). Also, a 'Teddy' bicycle, being an all-enclosed device with adjustable saddle and collapsible handlebars. (2)
A c1899 Marriot & Cooper 'Olympia' Tandem Tricycle. Promoted as 'easy to steer and propel in luxurious ease', these tandems were very popular in the late Victorian period. This example has been stove-enamel black with nickel-plated flat handlebars and a rim brake and contracting back pedalling brake are fitted to rear wheel. Other features include non-matching leather saddles, rear rack and lamp bracket.
A circa 1904 Lady's Dursley Pedersen. A size 'A' bicycle numbered 896?. Finished in green enamel with nickel-plated fork ends, 16-inch up-turned handlebars with inverted lever-operated stirrup brake and rear brake, celluloid grips, 26-inch Westwood rims and tyres, metal chain guard and a leather frame-fitted tool bag. The laced saddle has been rebuilt to original specification and Lucas double-ring bell and a nickel-plated 'Pathfinder' oil lamp is fitted.
A circa 1910 Dursley Pedersen 'Anti-Rust' Model. Painted dark green, it is a size 5 machine numbered 7312, and has a re-woven hammock saddle, original celluloid covered drop handlebars with inverted brake levers and original style grips, stainless steel 28-inch Westwwod rims, single-speed rear hub, nickel-plated cranks and chain wheel, Lucas front-mounted luggage rack, Lucas double-ring bell, and a similar period candle lamp. Offered with this machine is the bicycle's original front wheel and a Villiers Variable Gear hub and stainless Westwood rim. (3)
A circa 1870 Vélocipède. An English pattern bicycle with its original 36-inch front wheel in remarkably good condition with its original enamel finish, the 30-inch rear wheel being a quality replacement, and also in good fettle. The bearings have been refurbished, and the steering head is sound; the seat support has apparently been replaced, the twist grip 28-inch handlebars have turned oak grips, and also featured are triangular pedals, hock rests and a brake. A much later 20th century candle lamp is fitted.
An Overman Wheel Co., 'Victoria' Lady's Bicycle. Dating from circa 1893, a good and original loop frame bicycle, enamelled black with nickel-plated 23-inch handlebars, cork grips, double link inch-pitch driving chain, single rod cranks with adjustable main bearing, correct style solid/cushion tyring on 26-inch deep set rims, lever-operated front plunger brake, fixed rear wheel gearing, fabric chain guard and skirt guard and an unusual tipping leather-padded saddle for ease of mounting. A later Riemann candle lamp and a Lucas double ring bell are fitted
A c1888 D. Rudge & Co., 'Bicyclette Racer'. A 20-inch frame numbered 50575, finished in a two-tone green enamel with a long saddle support, this quality bicycle, featuring 28-inch hollow rims and narrow section ¾-inch tyring and, as was usual with Rudge, numbered component parts. Further features include a leather saddle, block chain, nickel-plated handlebars with a crows- foot bell fitted, later Reimann candle lamp, original pedals with correct style but new rubbers fitted, foot rests and lever-operated plunger brake to the front wheel. The bicycle has its own stand. (2)
