A bronze lamp consisting of a four armed goddess holding a stupa and a flaming jewel in her upper hands, lower left hand in the abhya mudra, meaning 'fear not', and lower right hand in the varada mudra, meaning 'fulfilment of wishes', two strings of necklaces and a large crown with five-headed snake rearing above, body forming a handle; to the front a shallow bowl for wick with tortoise either side; goddess seated with on leg extended; column below and bell-shaped foot. Acquired on the London art market prior to 1980. 1 kg, 30cm (12"). Fine condition.
