Lot 119

1976 Porsche 911 Targa 2.7 SRegistration no. MHY 94PChassis no. 9116211656Odometer reading: 108,887MOT: Exempt*LHD US-spec example*Extensive recent history*Full engine rebuild in 2014Footnotes:For the 1974 model year, the Porsche 911 received its first design overhaul since its introduction in 1964. This included a raised bumper design with black plastic bellows, as well as a new red panel with the Porsche logo embedded between the rear light cluster. In 1974, the 911 was also available with a new 'ducktail' spoiler design, which was optional in Europe but became standard on all US-spec models. This 1976 Porsche 911S Targa is a US specification example that is equipped with the 2.7-litre 173bhp flat-six engine. It comes with an extensive recent history from its purchase in Pennsylvania by the vendor in July 2013. The vehicle was found to be in good condition with no signs of corrosion. Once the car arrived in the UK it was given to a trusted Porsche specialist WrightTune, who undertook significant work including a full vehicle check and an engine and gearbox service. It was also prepared for UK road safety laws, which included replacing the rear light lenses with European specification and head lamp glass with UK beam pattern. In August 2014 a full engine rebuild was also undertaken. This was due to smoke from the exhaust on over run and during hard acceleration. Following the rebuild the engine is now running and driving very well and as it should. Other work on the car includes a full Targa top refurbishment. There is good history with the car and it comes with its original owner's manual and service book. The service book is void of stamps however, so it is believed to be a replacement. The bodywork, paintwork and interior all present very well. This is an excellent and usable example of a modern classic Porsche.Vendor Score Total: 79/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH.
