Pair of late Victorian hand carved wood and gesso blackamoor figural torchere lamps; with gilt and hand painted decoration. The lamps stand on octagonal plinths, arms aloft holding torch lamps. Plinth H: 70 cm, Figure to head H: 120 cm further 40 cm from head to top of lamp. Total H: 220 cm CONDITION REPORT: Both platters have been broken and have been restored. There is an absent ploom to the feamale head. There is a piece of gilt leaf missing from the plinth of the male figure, the other piece is present but detached. The female thumb on the right hand has suffered a crack. Male left arm shows signs of historic restoration. The figures and plinths suffer from age related wear and shows some shrinkage.
