A Powell & Hanmer combination rear and number plate oil-powered lamp from the veteran period, with a carrying bail, good glasses, oil reservoir and stout mounting bracket. Also, a Lucas Ltd, 420 series oil-powered off-side mounted lamp, with all fittings, but without a tightening screw. Both in serviceable condition, but with some solder and dents showing. (2)
Samuel Rushmore Lamp Set A pre-WWI set, comprising a pair of 10-inch acetylene gas projectors retaining their undamaged Mangin rear reflectors, correct and patented heat resilient front glasses, 8½-inch mounting centres and burner holders. Together with complimentary acetylene gas 'Shaking Grate' generator, with correct-style iron mounting brackets and all fittings for Carbide of Calcium and water reaction. Polished brass, the set comes with the remains of another generator. Ideal for mounting on a period chassis with an aero engine. (4)
A C330 Series 'Sentry' Rear Lamp An oil-powered rear lamp by Lucas Ltd., having an excellent black enamel finish and nickel-plated parts to include front rim, side glass bezels, spade bracket tightener, patented oil reservoir locking device and bail escutcheons. In complete ready-to-mount condition.
A Chinese porcelain famille verte baluster vase and cover, converted to a lamp, the vase probably 19th century, enamelled with birds and flowers issuing from rockwork, on a dense ground of flowers and foliate with smaller, shaped reserves painted with birds, flowers, a dragon and a landscape, the domed cover similarly decorated, the flared base with painted fluted border, the vase 16in. (40.7cm.) high, the base and cover finial drilled.
WEDGWOOD FAIRYLAND LUSTRE - an extremely rare 3 5/8in. Malfrey pot and cover, first quarter 20th century, designed Daisy Makeig-Jones, decorated with Elves and Bell Branch pattern, depicting goblins and elves dancing on and around a mushroom, spider webs in the background against a midnight blue lustre glaze, the cover with a fairy to centre of spider web with gold gilded spider at one side with small fairies and leaves randomly scattered, the inner of lid with central large spider in web with scattered flies and flowers on light green lustre ground, underside with gold and black Portland vase mark and "Wedgwood England", also indistinct pattern no. (possibly Z208) - please see photo.* A very similar Malfrey pot and cover sold for $31,050.00 at Murphy Auctions in their Lamp & Glass sale in 2007, lot 395.** Very good / excellent condition, no chips, cracks or hairlines found, two tiny marks to gilt on fairy to centre of web on cover, some seepage from lustre bleeding into green glaze at base underside and inner pot, pattern number indistinct but visible.
A c1908 Lucas Ltd., 'Duplex' Acetylene Gas Lamp A rarely-found self-contained lamp of the 790 series and the type frequently fitted to Rolls-Royce 40/50hp motor-cars. It has been dry-stored for many years, and comes with its water control valve, carrying handle, burner & thread locking sockets, 7-inch mounts, 12-inches high, 10-inches long.
