A pair of 19th Century green glass gilt decorated gas lamp bases of baluster form with metal mounts with twin handle metal mounts set with acanthus leaf decoration and raised on square similarly decorated base 24 cm high CONDITION REPORTS There is wear to the gilding on the glass. The metal has possibly been re-gilded / treated at some point. There are areas of wear to the extremities of the metalware and scratching, etc. On one, the handles are not quite straight. General wear and tear conducive with age and use to include surface scratches. In need of a clean. See images for further detail.
Lot 500
A 19th Century Continental gilt bronze urn or lamp stand, the pierced Greek key style galleried top enclosing a Sienna marble circular panel on reeded column supports, united by a pierced floral and foliate medallion decorated undertier with tin dish to the centre, raised on foliate decorated eagle claw and ball feet, top 28 cm diameter (overall width 43 cm) x 78 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The top is loose on one of the supports - appears to be lacking a screw. Also is slightly misshapen along the top edge. The sienna marble has had several repairs and is heavily scratched. Lacquer is missing / rubbed throughout. Remains of cleaning fluid residue evident throughout. Cracks / splitting to the metal columns. Wear to the gilding. Knocks, bumps, etc. Has had heavy wear and tear conducive with age and use. Previously converted to a lamp base, of archaic form with moulded handles and floral decoration, six character mark is drilled and only part remaining but probably Jiajing mark, height 23.5cm, width 12cm.From a Private Collection, purchased from a Country House Sale, Devon, mid 1980s. large drilled hole centre of base.

An Indian engraved brass and silvered circular dish with all-over foliate decoration, 18 cm diameter, a painted iron cowbell, 19 cm high, an Indian lacquered and carved cylindrical box containing a small quantity of various lace, a hand-painted floral decorated papier-mâché octagonal tray, 26 cm wide x 26 cm deep and a small painted and gilded lidded box, 8 cm wide x 8 cm deep, a brass standard lamp, the two lights on reeded column support on a circular base with scrolling decoration and a collection of various books and prints including THERESE DE DILLMONT "Encyclopedia of Needlework", new edition, revised and enlarged, DMC Library edition, tooled cloth board bound, one volume "An Evening with Punch", published 1900, printed paper board bound, one volume JOHN LEECH "Pictures of Life & Character from the Collection of Mr. Punch", published 1854, printed paper board bound, together with another "2nd Series" 1864, "4th Series" 1863 and "5th Series" 1869 together with 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL "Botanical study of flowers", watercolour, 13 cm x 17 cm, a framed and glazed engraved portrait study of "John, 1st Lord Maitland of Thirlestaine" and a framed photograph of young man in military dress (possibly Thomas Townsend Somerville), two black and white prints of bi-planes and an RSPB colour print "Chart No. 3 Game Birds, Woodpeckers, Pigeons, Crows, etc."
