An exhibition quality 3 ½ inch gauge model of a Great Western Railway 4-4-0 County Class tender locomotive No 3834 County of Somerset, built by Mr D R Carter of Minehead, Somerset, to the design by Don Young. The silver soldered superheated copper boiler by G. B. Boilers having fittings including pressure gauge, water sight glass, regulator, safety, drains and other usual fittings. The chassis having twin outside cylinders, Stephenson’s link valve gear with slide valves, lever reverse with multi-lever quadrant, fluted motion, injector, clack, safety, steam brake, whistle valve and mechanical oiler system. The model finished in traditional Great Western Railway dark green and black lined livery with fitted steps, hand-rails, lamp irons and detailed rivet work. The six wheel tender with coal compartment, fitted brake, hand operated water feed pump, opening tool boxes, steps, hand rails, firing tools and coupling. The model is finished to a high standard having been run on compressed air only and is displayed on a track and contained in a ‘Timbercraft’ glazed display case with polished brass builders plaque. A well-engineered 5 inch gauge live steam model of the Liverpool & Manchester Lion 0-4-2 tender locomotive, built by Mr W E Wilks of Bourton to the LBSC design with copper haystack type boiler with polished brass lagging and normal fittings including water and pressure gauges, twin Salter's type safety valves, injector, clack and blow - down valves. Chassis fittings include twin inside cylinders with valves controlled through Stephenson's gears, connecting and coupling rods, whistle, brass cab-lamp, oak buffers and beam blocks. Tender with detailed rivet work and fitted hand brake. Finished in green and black livery with simulated wooden cladding to boiler and cab floor, polished brass and brightwork. Length 92cm. An exhibition quality 5 inch gauge model of a 4-2-2 Stirling single tender locomotive, the silver soldered copper boiler having fittings including pressure gauge, water sight-glass, double handle regulator, drains, safety valve, direction control, lever operated fire box door, brake levers and cab controlled cylinder drain cocks. The chassis with twin outside cylinders and internal valve gear, cross-head guides, injector and brakes to large central drive wheels. The six wheel tender with leaf-spring suspension, axle boxes, brake gear, hand operated water feed pump, detailed rivet-work, fitted steps and hand rails, lamp irons and vacuum hoses. The model finished in polished brass and steel work with detailed rivet-work, hand rails and lamp irons. Length 144cm. Cab width 20cm. No Boiler History available.
A fine exhibition quality 5 inch gauge model of a British Railways Class 9F 2-10-0, No.92184. Built over a thirty year period, the locomotive was first steamed in 2017. Silvered soldered boiler, fitted with four stainless steel radiant superheaters. 100psi working pressure, twin injectors. Backhead fittings include pressure gauge, twin water gauges, screw reverser gear. Two cylinder chassis, cast iron cylinders with piston valves operated by Walschaert's valve gear. Mechanical lubricator. The model is highly detailed throughout, with screw couplings, vacuum hose and lamp irons on the buffer beam, castellated nuts and split pins fixing valve gear and prototypical chassis lubrication pipework. Six wheel BR1F tender fitted with mechanical brake, water scoop, tool boxes, fitted steps and hand rails, sprung axle boxes, screw couplings, vacuum brake hose and ladder. Length 182cm. Width 25cm. An exhibition standard 2 ½ inch gauge model of a London Midland and Scottish Railway ‘Black 5’ 4-6-0 tender locomotive, the silver soldered boiler with fittings including water sight glass, pressure gauge, direction control, injector, drop down firebox door and simulated plank flooring to cab. Chassis with twin outside cylinders and operated by Walschaert’s valve gear, cylinder drains and fluted motion. A six wheel tender having fitted hand feed water pump, steps, hand rails and couplings. The model is finished in black livery with fitted steps, hand-rails, lamp irons and vacuum hoses. Length 89cm. Cab width 13cm. The London Midland and Scottish Railway Class 5 4-6-0, almost universally known as the Black Five. It was introduced by William Stanier in 1934 and 842 were built between then and 1951. Members of the class survived to the last day of steam on British Railways in 1968, and eighteen remain in preservation.No Boiler History available. A well-engineered 3 ½ inch gauge model of a Great Northern Railway ‘Ivatt’ Atlantic Class 4-4-2 tender locomotive, built to the design of LBSC’s ‘Maisie’, with silver soldered copper boiler having fittings including water and pressure gauges, regulator, direction control lever, safety, clack valve and blow down plug. The chassis details include twin outside cylinders 1 ¼ inch bore by 1 ⅝ inch stroke, Stephenson’s valve gear and fluted motion. The six-wheel tender with fitted suspension, brakes and hand feed water pump, water cock, steps and hand irons. The model finished in traditional green and black lined livery with fitted steps, hand irons, lamp irons and vacuum hoses. Total Length 115cm. Cab width 19cm. No Boiler History available.
