Great Northern Railway Platform Lamp, all copper construction. Stamped GNR in the top panel, it is complete with post mounting frog and stands 36" high. A nicely restored example, still retaining its china glass lamp tablet where the station name Bottesford is just about discernable. See lot 270 in this auction from the same station.
Locomotive Headboard BR(S), cast aluminium, BRITTANY EXPRESS. As fitted to predominantly Bulleid Locos on the Waterloo to Southampton Docks train that ran from 1954 until 1964. Totally unrestored, the plate has been welded down the centre and also on the top corner whilst in service. Plenty of knocks as you would expect to the lamp mounting brackets. Has `Nine Elms’ clearly stencilled on the rear. A rare plate that has never appeared at auction anywhere before.
GWR Wartime Gantry Lamp. Similar in appearance to a General Purpose Handlamp with curved top and fixed handle but, the front glass has a triangular cowl fitted to direct the light downwards as black-out lamps. The cowl is clearly stamped `Gantry No 2` and both side are stamped `GWR` in small lettering. Complete with an unmarked reservoir and a BR/WR burner.
RENFE Spanish Railway Signal Lamp, cast iron construction. It comes in a very manageable 2 parts and measures about 4.6” tall and is certainly an impressive item. A 3 aspect lamp with original burner. This unusual lamp manually rotates around the steel support pole to show the correct aspect required. The flute carries an original plaque engraved with RENFE 4797 B – MARANON which is a very small village in NE Spain in the province of Navarre. Possibly a unique survivor and example ready for the railway room or garden. One of the coloured lenses shattered but is left attached to effect repair or size measurement for replacement.
