CORINTHIAN GEOMETRIC PATTERN SQUAT OINOCHOE LATE 6TH BCE, 19TH CENTURY PROVENANCE together with a red figure pyxis, a Roman oil lamp (broken), a head of a Tarentine lady of fashion, a terracotta fragment with the head of a goddess and an ancient Greek terracotta bird(oinochoe 12cm wide, 11.5cm high)Provenance: The Estate of the late J. E. Adam The labels with these items were handwritten by the collector himself, Charles Richard Fox (1796-1873). He was the son of Henry Richard Vassall-Fox, 3rd Baron of Holland, and Lady Elizabeth Webster, herself a fascinating character, well-known as an intellectual. Fox was an acclaimed numismatist, collecting vast amounts of Greek coins and writing several books about them. His travels, both with the army and privately later in life, led him across Europe and Asia Minor, and gave him a chance to acquire coins and antiquities from an array of places. The coin collection was bought by the Royal Museum of Berlin after his death, where they are still on view today. The antiquities have remained in the family until now, they were passed down from Charles Richard Fox to his nephew Charles Frederick Fox Adam, to his son (F E F Adam) who had no children and left his possessions to Janet Adam’s father.
Of Kitchenalia interest - A collection of vintage late 20th century Portmeirion The Botanic Garden by Susan Williams-Ellis kitchenalia. The lot to include a Helleborus Niger table lamp with white shade, a pitcher jug, a Hyacinthus Orientalis biscuits jar, A Fuchsia Megellanica measuring jug, a decorative flower pot, a deep Paeonia Moutan serving round dish, a round Helleborus Niger serving platter, and a small Cyclamen Repandum plate. The lamp, as tallest item, measures approx. 47cm high. The lot appears in overall good conditions with minor wear commensurate with age, there are no apparent chips, cracks, repairs, crazing or any visible damage.
An assortment of vintage 20th century glass paperweights to include Caithness Miniature Candle, a Caithness G11G, a Wedgwood Jubilee paperweight, a mushroom form paperweight, a signed Mdina paperweight, a signed paperweight with swirl and Maltese cross design and lamp work, millefiori examples. Good overall condition with some scratches.

Measures 33cm tall.
A CHINESE CELADON OIL LAMP C.12TH CENTURY Modelled as a crouching mythical beast, with its head slightly raised, and carrying a fluted bowl upon its back, 14.5cm. Together with a copy of the Thermoluminescence Analysis Report, sample no.466u43, dated 19th April 1989. Provenance: from an English private collection, West Yorkshire, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
A POWELL & HANMER combination rear and number plate oil-powered lamp from the veteran period, with a carrying bail, good glasses, oil reservoir and stout mounting bracket. Also, a Lucas Ltd, 420 series oil-powered off-side mounted lamp, with all fittings, but without a tightening screw. Both in serviceable condition, but with some solder and dents showing. (2)
A POWELL & HANMER OIL-POWERED REAR LAMP. A model 535 with two clear side glasses for illuminating the rear of a vehicle, yet showing a red light to oncoming and overtaking traffic. In rarely found unused nickel-plated condition, with all component parts intact, one small glass cracked, otherwise almost perfect.
