There is also a 2/3cm star crack to the main bulbous body. The circular foot looks ok and is signed with a four character mark. The larger vase with cover has been extensively broken and re-glued. There is also a 2cm piece away from the neck and re-glued, also some fritting to the edge of the circular foot. The vase has sustained a fair amount of damage and in our view has been repaired quite badly. The circular cover appears in reasonable condition with no chips, breaks or old restorations and the Karashishi finial looks as if it has always been on there and not repaired.

The underside looks OK and the underglaze blue decoration is nicely painted. The second canister looks in good general overall condition although dirty but no damage or problems noted. One of the canister covers has a 1cm chip to the inside of the cover and this shows up white where the porcelain has gone when the cover is viewed on the inside.

Lot 126A

ADDED LOT A Chinese porcelain bowl hand decorated with five clawed dragons contesting the flaming sacred pearl of wisdom, in the Wucai palette, six character blue painted mark within concentric circles to the underside, 19cm diameter, although the bowl appears grubby and dirty in the auctioneer's opinion the bowl was probably manufactured in the 20th Century

Lot 116

A late-19th century Chinese Canton-style porcelain vase hand-decorated in enamels in the famille rose palette in typical style, 5.5cm high

Lot 120

A late-19th/early-20th century Chinese porcelain vase hand-decorated in enamels with butterflies, peaches etc. against a yellow ground (severe damage and cracking etc.,) together with a Chinese bottle vase as a lamp, the decorated vase 19cm high (2) CONDITION REPORT: The single smaller vase has been very badly broken and repaired, the piece is hairlined and appears to be in very bad condition with cracks pretty much all over the vase and an old repair to the lip. The yellow bottle vase with the lot number on has several small marks, the yellow appears to be a mottled colour. It looks in reasonable condition with no cracks, chips or old restoration noted. It has now been mounted as a lamp so we can't see inside.

Lot 78

A mid-18th century Chinese export porcelain tankard; decorated in the famille rose palette with a figure riding upon the back of a big cat (possibly a tiger) before a succession of five further figures in various guises (restored) 16cm high CONDITION REPORT: There looks like a considerable area around the rim where it has been restored although this has been done quite well, you have to look quite closely to see that it is not perfect. Restoration is quite good and covers most of the outside and inside of the rim at the top. As a result of this there is some “fresh” painting to the top lip at the edge. Although the handle looks good at first inspect it may also have been off and on at some stage, although again the restoration is very good.

Lot 110

An early Chinese Ming Dynasty porcelain bowl, well modelled and decorated with various fish amongst stylised under water flowers and seaweed etc., raised on high circular foot decorated with alternating scrolls, 14.5cm diameter (some glaze crazing and discolouration etc.,) CONDITION REPORT: There is some glaze crazing and discolouration etc., to the inside of the bowl and also to the outside and underneath which is concealed by the circular foot. There are minor blemishes and some crazing noted throughout the bowl and under a jeweller's loop no chips, cracks or old restoration can be seen. This appears to be in reasonable order except for some glaze crazing (some “brown” glaze crazing also), extremely small rim fritting to the underside of the circular foot and some breakdown of cobalt blue.
