A CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN GINGER JAR, 18TH CENTURY. Two quatrefoil panels decorated with treasured objects on a cracked-ice ground with prunus blooms. Double ring mark to base in underglaze blue. Kangxi period (1662-1722). 18cm tall. Long hairline from rim u-shaped into the body. One small minor nick to rim. 'Yeran' sticker to base.
FIVE CHINESE ITEMS OF POTTERY AND PORCELAIN. Comprising: a Ming Dynasty blue and white dish painted with leafy branches, 19.5cm diam., a Ming style blue and white bowl painted with a stylised landscape within floral border, an early 19th century cylindrical censer painted in blue with the Three Friends, 10.5cm high, a tea bowl with dash ornament and a Ming Dynasty footed tea bowl, reeded and glazed in mottled cream. (5)All in reasonable order, some typical wear and glaze crazing and minor wear.
A CHINESE QINGBAI WARE GLAZED PORCELAIN COVERED JAR, SONG / YUAN DYNASTY. Coated inside and out in a pale Qingbai glaze. Around its waist are incised lines for decoration and the cover has a carved pattern to give it the appearance of a tiled roof; this jar represents a granary. 13th – 14th Century. Height 8cm.
TWO CHINESE PORCELAIN JARS, QING DYNASTY AND LATER. A famille rose jar and cover decorated with phoenix and large peony blooms. Together with a blue and white jar decorated with dragon and clouds. 22cm and 23.5cm tall. (2)Slight losses in places to green enamel with slight nicks to rim and chip to edge of cover. Blue and white jar in good overall condition.
A LARGE CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE EXPORT PORCELAIN TUREEN AND COVER, 18TH CENTURY. Squat oval form with large shell form handles decorated with peacocks on rock formations with floral blooms. The cover decorated with floral sprays and flame finial. Qianlong period (1735-96). 36cm length including handles. Provenance: From a private English collection. With Sotheby's Sussex stickers to cover and interior of tureen, dated 11th November 1987.Overall good condition with no major damages and no signs of repairs. No cracks or chips. Small minor glaze loss in parts of handles. General rubbing in places from handling.
A LARGE CHINESE CANTON FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN WARMING DISH AND COVER, 19TH CENTURY. Well decorated with various figures in a courtyard scene within bands of clouds and Buddhist emblems. 37cm length.Cover damaged into two sections and repaired. Repair and overpaint to and around one handle with further repair and sections of overpaint to that third of the base, with yellow staining from repaired section.

To include a Qianlong export bowl with ribbed body decorated with scene from the 'Judgement of Paris'; A saucer with two cups and two loose tea pot covers; Together with a Chinese Imari tea pot, Kangxi period. Bowl 25.5cm diam. (7)Bowl with sections of repair and signs of overpaint to decoration, yellow tinge in areas of repair to the body, with star hairlines to base. Saucer with one chip to rim. Cups with chips to rim and foot. The larger loose cover in good condition, the smaller cover with loss to rim. Tea pot with glaze loss to handle, otherwise in good overall condition with minor nicks. Tea pot cover with shallow chips to top of cover, glaze loss to finial and chip loss to underside.

Six-character seal mark of Daoguang to base in underglaze blue. 13.5cm diam.Small fault to foot rim. Minor rubbing to gilt rim. No signs of repair. One faint 1cm line in the glaze vertical from rim.

The paintings in gouache on rice paper, comprising: a rectangular painting with an artist or scholar decorating shells at a table before attendants and figures, another with a figure and attendants, the third depicting a family group with a baby, 27cm x 14cm max. the beaker of flared form, decorated with Shou symbols, lotus and scrolls, late 19th/early 20th century, blue seal mark, 7.3cm high (4).All are well painted. The first (with artist or scholar and shells) with large loss to rice paper top right and small further losses, the other with small tears and losses, the painting with the family with large dark brown stain to top right, loss to bottom left of paper, some discolouration overall. The tea bowl with minute rim chip and associated hairline crack, with another minute rim chip and hairline crack.

Comprising two coral red ground Imperial-style bowls with apocryphal Qianlong seal marks, one with underglaze blue six character mark, decorated with birds perched on rockwork and in flight amongst flowering prunus and peony, with a ten character verse in black enamel, flanked by three seals, the second bowl with red and gilt four character seal marks, decorated with boys playing before rockwork and terracing, the interior with leafy branches, the third bowl with underglaze blue six character apocryphal Yongzheng seal mark, the exterior decorated with boys carrying peaches and lanterns, the interior with roundels of flowers and bamboo, reserved against a black ground, 17.7cm diam. max. The red ground example with boys with some slight misfiring to red ground, very minor discolouration to the other red ground example to the celadon interior. Minute wear to enamels throughout.

Each with iron-red enamel and gilt four character apocryphal Qianlong seal marks, the first decorated with a courtesan reclining on a daybed in a draped interior, within puce lozenge pattern and precious object border, the underside with coral red ground, the second decorated with a court lady wearing flowing robes, holding a tea tray and standing atop clouds, reserved against a turquoise ground, 24cm diam. max. (2)ProvenanceProperty of an English Gentleman, acquired in Taiwan in the 1970s.The example with turquoise ground with a small patch of flaking and deterioration to glaze beside rim, minor discolouration to turquoise ground. Minute wear to enamels to both, overall in good order.
A CHINESE PORCELAIN FAMILLE ROSE RED-GROUND IMPERIAL-STYLE BALUSTER VASE, 20TH CENTURY. With apocryphal enamelled blue Yongzheng four character seal mark, with gilt elephant terminals, decorated with magpies and other birds perched on rockwork and in flowering trees, with chrysanthemums, the reverse with black enamelled script poem, flanked by three seals, within ruyi, lappet and floral red-ground borders. 40cm high Overall in good order. One elephant with restoration and regilding to two tusks - one of tusks possibly refixed at time of manufacture. Very slight wear to gilding to elephants.

A LARGE CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN BOWL, MING DYNASTY, 16TH CENTURY. Decorated with just a geometric band around the exterior foot wall whereas the inner surface is particularly elaborately decorated. In the centre is a standing bird, presumably a heron, together with various plants and blossoms. The surrounding wall is decorated with a pattern featuring lotus leaf panels and tassels. Ming Dynasty, second half of the 16th century, c.1560-1580. 18cm diam.There is a hairline to the wall and a small chip to the rim. No signs of repair or restoration.
A CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN PHOENIX DISH, MING DYNASTY. Coated in a thick glaze with underglaze blue decoration of a phoenix standing in a garden, the rim decorated with various beribboned precious objects and floral motifs. Second half of the 16th century, c.1560 - 1580. 18.5cm diam.Very good overall condition with minor surface wear and a small ancient chip to the inner foot ring. There is no restoration or repair and the dish has a good ring to it when tapped.

A LARGE CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN PHOENIX DISH, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644). A Swatow (or Zhangzhou) porcelain dish coated in a thick glaze decorated in underglaze blue. The pattern features a standing phoenix surrounded by foliage and blossoms which include the peony and bamboo, the phoenix symbolising peace and prosperity, the peony riches, love, affection and beauty and the bamboo longevity. The underside is decorated with simple blue rings. This dish was recovered from an unnamed shipwreck by Captain Michael Hatcher of "Hatcher Cargo" fame. Ming Dynasty, Wanli Reign (1573 - 1620). There are still some small sea-growths adhering to the surface and the glaze is a little stained from long submersion in seawater. 26.25 cm diam. (10.25 inches).Good condition with no restoration or repair.
A LARGE MOULDED DEHUA QINGBAI PORCELAIN BOX, CHINESE SONG / YUAN DYNASTY. Made at the Dehua kilns in Fujian province. Both upper and lower parts are decorated with moulded patterns. The centre of the cover is decorated with a floral pattern surrounded by a fluted pattern. The wall of the lower section is also fluted. Both inner and outer surfaces are coated in a Qingbai glaze that has just a hint of blue. The slightly concave base remains unglazed. 13th – 14th Century. This is an unusually large example of its type with a diameter of 16.75cm (6.5 inches)There are minor chips to the sharp edge of the lower section. No repair or restoration.
A CHINESE STONEWARE OR PORCELAIN MEIPING VASE WITH IMPRESSED CHARACTERS. Heavily potted and coated in a thick glaze over a creamy white slip. Around the shoulder are three or four impressed Chinese characters, partially obscured by the thickness of the glaze. Height 33cm (13 inches). Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton, acquired from the US in the 1990s.No repair or restoration but an old chip to the edge of the foot.

Comprising a pillow or rectangular form with pierced ends decorated with various figures; A rectangular form tea caddy similarly decorated with figures and floral displays, with wooden cover; Together with a square porcelain tile decorated with figure of Lan Caihe, the Daoist Immortal, crossing water on a turtle's back, with added inscription. Pillow approx. 15cm length. Tongzhi period (1861-75). (3)Top right corner section of tile with visible crack, probably a repaired section. The pillow and tea caddy in good overall condition with general expected surface wear only.
A 19TH CENTURY CHINESE PORCELAIN BLUE AND WHITE GINGER JAR ADAPTED AS A LAMP AND ANOTHER GINGER JAR SIMILAR. Each painted with scrolling leafy lotus flowers and Xi symbols, within Key-pattern border. The lamp on wooden stand 17cm high exc. fittings, the jar 24.5cm high. (2)Both are lacking their covers, the jar mounted as a lamp has been drilled through the base to accommodate electrical fittings, both with some typical surface scratching, wear and minor misfiring to glaze, the larger ginger jar with a star crack to body which is only visible to the interior.

Together with a baluster vase with downward facing animal handles decorated with blossoming peony spray. Pot 24.5cm tall. (2)Chip repair to rim of pot, cover with mall single hairline to rim. Probable repair to spout of pot at the join. Vase with mall hairline to rim without chips or repairs.
A PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY CHINESE PORCELAIN GINGER JARS MOUNTED AS LAMPS. Each decorated with scrolling leafy lotus flowers and Xi symbols, within Key-pattern borders, on wooden stands, the jars 21.5cm high exc. fittings. (2)Overall both are in good order. Each vase has been later adapted as a lamp and is lacking a cover, each are drilled through base to accommodate electrical fittings, with some typical scratching and wear to glaze.
A PAIR OF CHINESE KANGXI (1662-1722) BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN BALUSTER VASES AND DOMED COVERS. Painted with phoenix in flight above peony, reserved on a scale pattern ground. 30.5cm high. (2) One cover cracked across and with chipping to rim and one old restored repair, the other cover with small rim chip. The vases themselves are in good order, there are some minor glaze and firing faults. Otherwise in good order.
