A vintage 20th Century Chinese bowl decorated with floral, butterfly and Shou emblem designs on a turquoise ground in the famille rose palette and dating from the 20th century. This finely made porcelain bowl stands on a narrow rounded unglazed foot with a slightly recessed base and is of wide rounded form, the outer rim finely decorated with floral and scroll designs, butterflies and Shou emblems on a turquoise ground. The bowl has a printed red character mark to the base.

Late Qing style Chinese porcelain baluster vase with two peach shaped cartouches depicting Mandarins and boys at play in a garden setting with green and pink flower heads, all on a matte black ground. Unmarked to base, 30cm high approx. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) Some minor wear in places to the enamel or paintwork, however no obvious damage, chips, cracks or restoration.

Each scalloped dish moulded to the cavetto with tulip-shaped reserves painted with floral sprays, the well decorated in iron-red and gold with figures on a boat on a secluded lake amongst mountains and trees, the reverse painted with two floral sprays, age wear, one with fritting, hairline crack to the well, minor rim chips, gilt loss, the other with fritting, restoration, gilt loss, minor rim chips the larger 27,5cm diameter (2) “Melk en Bloed”, translating to “Milk and Blood,” is a Dutch term given to export porcelain decorated in iron-red and gold on a white ground. These wares were imported to the Netherlands for a short period during the reign of Emperor Kangxi, 1662 – 1722. Milk and Blood was the forerunner of Chinese Imari which was created with the addition of underglaze-blue, a design adopted from the Japanese. Not only did Milk and Blood describe the colour of the porcelain, but also related to a Dutch and low-German idiom that describes a radiant and healthy-looking face as “a face like milk and blood”, echoing the bold appearance of the porcelain.
THREE PIECES OF 19TH CENTURY CHINESE CANTON FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN, comprising a deep bowl, chipped rim and with stapled repair through base, approximate size 40.5cm, a charger, celadon ground, the centre decorated with figures, approximate diameter 37cm, a similar smaller plate, approximate diameter 29cm, chip to rim and crack, together with a 20th Century Chinese planter of rectangular form in the Famille Rose Canton style, approximate height 18cm (4) Condition Report The largest charger has worn gilding, especially to the rim. It has been broken right through and repaired, there is a patch of restoration where several pieces have been broken and re-attached. There is a chip to the underside and two stained cracks, Large bowl has riveted repairs and cracked, very worn gilding. Smaller charger is cracked and has two rim chips. A COLLECTION OF 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURY CHINESE CANTON FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN, comprising four jars and covers, three vases, a celadon ground vase, miniature teapot and a coffee can, height of tallest approximately 32cm and restoration and smallest approximately 4cm (condition: some damage especially to vases rims) (5) Condition Report Smallest jar has damaged and partially repaired cover. Next jar larger has a chip to the inner rim of the jar and a chip to the inner cover. The third jar has a large crack and three chips, the cover looks ok. The largest jar a Star hairline in the base, other than minor wear to enamels the rest is ok. The mug has a glued repair to both the handle and mug, some chips missing, also nibbles to the foot rim. Miniature teapot is ok apart from wear to the gilding on the finial. The rim of the baluster vase is cracked and restored. The vase with raised blue decoration is missing a handle and has some enamel loss. The lobed baluster vase with dragons has wear to the gilding but is in good condition overall. The twin handled vase has a chip in the top rim and wear to the gilding throughout.
