An interesting and attractive pair of armorial small Plates, c.1750, each carefully painted with the arms of Amyas of Norfolk, conferred 1576, within a cell diaper border and precious objects, the waved rim with boar head crest and also with precious objects in a Kakiemon style, minor chips and wear, 16cm (2) One with paper label inscribed: 'Lowestoft, Sir William Yonge of Colyton, Co. Devon, Baronet, Knight founder of the Bath 1729'. The use of Lowestoft on the label is interesting as, until the middle of the 20th century, it was believed that armorial services originated in Lowestoft or to be Chinese porcelain decorated there. It was not until the 1950s and research by the likes of David Howard that the mistake was corrected. 清约1750年 外销粉彩徽章纹盘一对 CONDITION REPORT: Both with some rim chips, some interior border section erased.
