A rare and unusual Chinese porcelain simulating gilt-bronze vase, late Qing Dynasty or Republic, of archaic Hu form with twin lion mask and ring handles, the body moulded in relief with precious Buddhist emblems, the neck with a band of leaf tips and taotie masks, the front and reverse panels depicting scholars and attendants playing “go”, admiring scroll paintings and practicing calligraphy, with poetic stanzas, the base with apocryphal Qianlong incised/impressed six character seal mark, the wooden cover with jade finial,  36cm high, th etop 12cm diam overall, 47cm high overall including stand & cover

A Chinese blue and white 'nine' dragon bottle vase, Jiaqing mark and period (1796-11820), the rounded sides rising from a short straight foot, to a tapering cylindrical neck, painted with six dragons chasing a flaming pearl amongst trailing clouds and flame scrolls, with three dragons emerging from swirling waves, with a thin band of ruyi below the rim and a thin band of key-fret at the foot, the six character seal mark in underglaze-blue 30.5cm high.Provenance: English private collection since the 1880s. Condition Report: There is a 5cm by 8cm semi-circular section of the rim that has been broken and re-glued. There is also a long arcing crack running from near to the foot across the body, approx 27cmFootnote:The design of nine dragons painted amongst trailing clouds, flame scrolls and swirling waves derives from imperial designs of the earlier Qianlong period (1736-1795). Please see a large baluster vase in the Palace Museum, which is included in The Complete Collection of Treasures in the Palace Museum, Blue and White Porcelain with Underglaze Red (III), no 36, Hong Kong, 1985, p. 132, pl. 118; and an underglaze-blue and iron-red piping vase in the Palace Museum, included in Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, Qing Porcelain from the Palace Museum Collection, Hong Kong, 1989, p.327, p. 8. For a similar vase (restored), sold at auction, please see Bonhams London, 16 May, 2013, lot 97 and for a double gourd example in a very similar design, please see Sotheby’s Hong Kong, 10 April 2008, Splendours of the Qing Court, lot 2831. A Jiaqing vase of globular form with a similar design is in the National Palace Museum Taipei, included in the Illustrated Catalogue of Ch’ing Dynasty Porcelain in the National Palace Museum, vol. 2, Tokyo, 1981, pl 93; and one sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong 02 May1995, lot 86.

A pair of Chinese hongmu and porcelain tables, probably Guangxu period, the top inset with a millefleur porcelain panel within a key border, supported upon square legs, 47cm wide, 49cm high, 34cm deepCondition report: One porcelain panel has a large crack (see images). Both tables have some ages cracks and slight patches of colour variation, but both are structurally sound with no obvious movement. The undamaged panel appears to have come free at some point and has been rehoused using modern glues/filler. Most flaws visible in the additional images.

An extensive Chinese export porcelain dinner service, Qing, late 18th/early 19th century, each painted with a watery landscape with a fisherman in a boat before buildings, mountains and trees, within diaper and pendant borders and barbed rims, consisting of two large meat plates, 47cm dia, two oval dishes, 39cm dia, two lidded tureens, 27.3cm dia, a large tureen and cover, 30.5cm (excluding handles), thirty eight plates, 24cm dia, sixteen soup dishes, 24.4cm dia, a deep sided square bowl, 23.7cm dia, a small tureen, 14.7cm dia (excluding handles) and five graduated oval plates 19.5cm - 35cm diaThis has remained with the same family since the early 1800's, the vendor's great, great grandfather was stationed in India and received this service as a wedding present, thence by descent.Condition report: Some marks to glaze on the two meat plates, the two oval plates, the large tureen, the small tureen, the graduated oval plates and on the soup dishes.The two lidded tureens and the deep-sided square bowl have some minor spots and would both benefit from a clean.Twenty three plates have hairline-cracks accross the wells, some extending to the rims, with evidence of repair (see pictures), the rest with minor marks.
