CONDITION REPORT: The pair of vases are in good condition with no damage, repairs or restoration. There are no cracks. The top rims have lost all of the gilding however. Other than the damage to the lip the condition is good.
A Chinese Canton porcelain vase, mid 19th century, having a shaped rim above the waisted neck with panels of figures flanked by Shi Shi and Chilong, the body with panels of dignitaries and attendants and verso a battle scene amongst mountains, with peony, chrysanthemum decoration between with magpies, all above a false gadrooned border. Height 61 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There is a very fine 23 cm long hairline crack running from the bottom of the vase through to the centre. There is a further very fine 29 cm hairline crack issuing from the bottom of the vase up towards the centre and a very fine hairline crack to the left of the warring parties panel. There are also very fine cracks to the underside and a small section approximately 1.5 cm of blown foot rim (caused by a trapped air bubble within the clay). The rim is in good order and free from any chips and cracks. The Shi Shi handles are intact although one pup has a 1 cm section of its tail missing. The Chilong around the shoulder are in good order though one does have a firing crack on one claw. Overall the enamel decoration is good throughout with no obvious losses to the enamel. Other than the faults mentioned it is a good decorative piece.
A pair of Chinese porcelain garden seats, circa 1880, each top inset with pierced cash and quatreform panels of females, the main body decorated with female figures reading, playing Go and playing musical instruments, with pierced cash symbols tied with ribbons, peaches, bats and insects between flowering lotus and double shou borders. Height 49.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: One seat has a large repaired crack running from one side across to its opposing side. The crack starts approximately 11 cm from the bottom and goes in an arch terminating 10 cm from the top. There are interesting rectangular plates on the interior holding it together. The bolt heads are visible either side of the crack. There are six rectangular plaques all told. The seat enamels are rubbed and faded but the decoration can still be easily made out. On the porcelain rivet heads around the body again the colours are faded and one is missing at the top where the crack goes through. The decoration to the body is slightly faded but generally good. The second seat has a similar issue with the top being faded and worn. This also has a large crack with a more traditional rivet repair. There are 14 rivets and a further rivet hole which is vacant. The crack is an undulating crack starting at the far right of one figural panel travelling downwards and left underneath the figures rising through the banana leaf to the top of the Shou just below the seat rim and travelling downwards again through to the right of the circular panel travelling beneath the pierced Cache symbol and terminating at a junction where it crosses itself just below a rivet. The colours on the body are good. The porcelain rivet heads similar to the previous seat are again faded and rubbed. The enamels appear to be in good order with no major issues. The restoration appears to have been done many years ago. There are no signs of any recent restorations.

Height 21 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a dark green band around the rim which is disguising restoration. On close inspection it would appear that the uppermost side panel rim has been restored which has overlapped onto the panel to the front and behind it. The remainder of the green banding looks to have been applied in order to make the item uniform. The remainder of the vase appears to be in good order throughout.

The bowl has a rim to almost foot rim very fine hairline crack of which a very small part near the rim is visible on the exterior. The stand is in good order with no obvious faults. Given that the bowl does have the fine hairline crack all pieces do ring out when lightly tapped. The second cover/lid is in good order with no obvious faults. The bowl has a very fine 3 cm interior hairline crack which is not visible on the exterior. The stand is in good order. All items appear to be free from any major chips or restorations. The gilding on some of the Shous is slightly rubbed.

One cup has a small flea bite rim chip from which issues a 1.5 cm L shape hairline crack within the glaze. One saucer has a small patch of approximately 1.5 cm long of kiln dirt attached to the rim but this is a manufacturing flaw.
