A pair of Chinese Qianlong porcelain chargers with famille rose spray decoration and butterflies to the main field, bearing label verso "Ch'ien Lung 1736-1785 Famille Rose enamelled porcelain Stephen Winkworth collection at Sotheby's Lot 371 28/4/38 pair" and a further later label "For information see the Arts of China in S Room Famille Rose P227/8", 34.2 cm diameter CONDITION REPORTS Item One - large area of repair to one side and a repaired hairline crack from rim towardfs flowers approx 5 cm long, all visible under ultraviolet - see imagess for further info. Approx 16 cm around the rim and 6 cm deep to the right hand side of the floral enamel decoration. To the right of that damage there is a hairline crack repaired from the rim towards the centre, approx 5 cm long. Some loss to the enamel - see images for further information. Base with some wear and dirt and chip to the rim of the foot glazed over so presumed occurring in firing.Item Two - no signs of repair as per the previous plate but with various area of damage including hairline cracks from rim towards centre approx 4 cm x 2 cm and another the other side of the plate approx 5 cm. Some loss to the enamelling, underside showing signs of the hairline cracks to the rims, the base with some blemishes and bearing old labels - see images for further information
A 19th Century Chinese porcelain cylindrical snuff bottle, polychrome decorated with figures in an interior, 7.5 cm high, together with a Chinese porcelain snuff bottle, polychrome decorated in high relief with battle scenes, with carved hard stone stopper, 8.8 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Cylindrical bottle with drip or indentation to rim, presumed firing fault, some minor blemishes to the glaze, otherwise paintwork reasonably intact. Some wear to the base, chip to the inside of the foot together with an associated English silver snuff spoon, hall marks, finial missing, relief work decorated piece with figures rising upon a striped elephant and various other figures around, together with further figures on the back of lions or dogs of faux verso. Gilding worn to rim with chips all around rim. The whole piece appearing dirty. Foot with wear and minor chippings - see images for further information. A 19th Century Chinese porcelain scent bottle, enamel decorated with two birds and willow and rocky coastal landscape verso flanked by mask ring handles, together with a green hard stone stopper, signed to base, 7 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Colours goos, enamel work basically sound though with some loss to the rock to the left hand side opposite the birds in flight. Large crack running from base of rock all the way around inbetween the two birds through the other side almost meeting at the base of the bottle, running round and connecting beneath the handle, suggesting a large breakage and repair, othjerwise with dirt and minor surface wear conducive with age and use. Stopper appears intact though with plaster attached to the cork to enlargen - see images for further information
