PO CHAP YEAP (CHINESE 1927-2007), A BLACK BOWLMarked to base31cm diameter Provenance: Paul Rice, November 1st, 1991Born in Malaysia to a Chinese family, Yeap came to London in 1948 to study law. He turned to pottery much later, working initially in a pottery in Aarhus, Denmark (1961) and then in London, and eventually became a research student at the Royal College of Art in 1967-68, following which he established his own workshop in Surrey. He taught ceramics at St Pauls' School, London, until 1975 and made stoneware and porcelain pots in traditional Chinese styles with particular attention to the quality of glazes. Mixed 20th Century painted glass bead necklaces to include a Chinese blue and white painted porcelain bead necklace with yellow metal clasp having a design of characters and images on a blue double knotted string together with a modern white metal and amber necklace with matched white metal and amber coloured bracelet. 19th century Chinese export porcelain vase, of ovoid form, heavily potted with a bird on a rock, flowers and foliage, in under-glazed cobalt blue. Double circle mark to the base, also in cobalt blue. 23cm high approx. Late Qing period. (B.P. 21% + VAT) Some crazing and staining in places overall, but no obvious chips, cracks or restoration noted.
Group of three Chinese porcelain Canton Famille Rose vases, ranging in height from 14.5cm to 23.5cm, the smallest of ovoid form with gilt lion mask handles, another moulded as a pouch with a ruffled neck and mouth with gilt 'Fo Dog' handles and the other of moulded flattened quatrefoil form, also with gilt 'Fo Dog' handles, decorated with panels of figures in pavilions, birds and butterflies. Late 19th century, Guangxu period. (3) (B.P. 21% + VAT) There is a small repaired chip to the mouth of the smallest vase, the other two appear ok, with no obvious damage.
Pair of Chinese mirror matched porcelain Famille Rose baluster 'Landscape Vases', each depicting a pavilion by a lake surrounded by rocks and trees in a mountainous landscape with boats, figures and calligraphy, all between a stylised 'petal band' above the foot with 'Ruyi' and scrolling flower bands to the shoulders, neck and below the mouth rim. Qianlong four character mark in a double square border to the bases. 20th century. 31cm high approx. (2) (B.P. 21% + VAT) No obvious damage.
19th century Chinese export porcelain single vase depicting panels of birds, flowering shrubs and stylised rocks in Famille Verte enamels, all on a blown powder blue ground. Double circle mark to the base in under-glazed cobalt blue. 30cm high approx. (B.P. 21% + VAT) A couple of noticeable chips to the rim at the top of the vase, no lid.
A late 19th century Chinese blue, white and iron red porcelain dragon dish painted with a central iron red four clawed dragon, and a flaming pearl and clouds, with three further dragons, the reverse with three further dragons and a band of waves, underglaze blue six character Yongzheng mark within a double circlesdiameter 36.5cm.Condition: Two fresh chips to rim. Old restoration to dish back under one of these chips and in another area which is also hairlined . Rubbing to centre.
A small 19th century Chinese blue and white porcelain ginger jarovoid form, decorated with Buddhist lion dogs chasing a brocade ball in scroll surrounds amongst scrolling clouds and flames, six character Kangxi mark height 12cmCondition: Lid now lacking. Some crazing to underside where the marks sit. Otherwise good.

A hand painted vase with crane bird and flora design (marked to base), blue & white tea cup with peony design, lidded jar with hand painted floral design - (AF), large hand decorated handled mug with flora and gilding to rim (AF), along with 2 x lacquered lidded boxes with blue and white porcelain inserts to lid. Largest measures 22cm (height).
Chinese famille rose porcelain tankard or mug, mid-18th century. A large cartouche depicts a scene of a harbor with figures standing near a waterside with domed hills in the background. Intricately painted floral and foliate motifs throughout in pink, green, and gold interspersed with four cartouches depicting birds perched on branches. With an applied dragon-form loop handle.Provenance: From the Estate of C. Curtis "Curt" Dunnavan, Long Lake, Minnesota.C. Curtis "Curt" Dunnavan (1926-2022) was a passionate world traveler and avid collector. It was through his travels that he was inspired to begin a lifelong relationship with the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia), becoming a major sponsor of the institute and facilitating the growth of their Asian art department, which is now one of the best in the country. His generous donations to Mia allowed them to establish a fund for the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer, one of the few endowed positions of this type in the museum field. He additionally served as a trustee of the institute, advocating for its operational growth. In its turn, the museum established a gallery named in his honor in recognition for his endowment fund and numerous contributions to their collection. The selections here showcase his talent and breadth of collecting, ranging from ancient statues to 19th-century woodblock prints. His appreciation for art persisted throughout his life and we are honored to offer items from his collection in this auction.Height: 6 in x diameter: 4 3/4 in.Condition: No visible chips. No major cracks or losses. No visible sign of restoration under UV light. Light wear throughout. Color glazing faded throughout. No visible chips to the rim and footrim. Original firing flaws throughout. Along the rim, there is a minute area where the surface is not smooth; however, it appears to be original. Along the areas where the dragon handle and the tankard's body meet, there is a minute crack near the head and near the foot. However, the dragon is firmly attached. The tongue of the dragon has a loss. Along the underside, the center is slightly recessed inward, which does not appear to be damaged but original. Along the underside, the area is lightly discolored and has unidentified accretions; please see the listing image.
