Bought at Christies 1941.Recently Provided Provenace History: From the Collection of Robert Henry Benson (1850-1929) Exhibited at the 'Exhibition of Chinese Applied Art' City of Manchester Art Gallery, 1913, no's 460 & 461, described as Jiajing Period. Included in Christies celebrated sale of part of the Benson Collection, July 1st 1924, Lot 189 (as Jiajing), bought by Harcourt Johnstone (1895-1945) for 15 guineas. Included in the Sothebys sale of the Harcourt Johnstone Collection, June 13th 1940, Lot 49 and described as Transitional.
A 17TH/18TH CENTURY CHINESE DEHUA BLANC-DE-CHINE MOULDED PORCELAIN LIBATION CUP, of rhinoceros horn form, together with a fitted hardwood stand, the flaring sides moulded with a deer, dragon, tiger and overhanging pine, the cup itself 4in(10.2cm) wide at widest point & 2.4in(6.2cm) high; together with an 18th/19th Century example, 3.9in(9.9cm) wide at widest point & 2in(5.1cm) high. Bought in Rangoon 1929.
AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF JAPANESE KUTANI PORCELAIN BOWLS & A WATERCOLOUR OF THE BOWLS ATTRIBUTED TO THE BURMESE ARTIST BA NYAN (1897-1945), the watercolour with an inscription to the reverse reading 'Painting of these cups made for me in Rangoon by the Burmese artist U Ba Nyan in 1930', the bowls together with fitted hardwood stands and an original 1930's photo, the bowls of octagonal form decorated in red, silver and gold, each with a Chinese Shou symbol to its centre, the bowls 4.3in(11.2cm) wide & 2in(5.1)cm high.

A GOOD QUALITY CHINESE YELLOW GROUND RECTANGULAR PORCELAIN JARDINIERE, the base with a four-character Tongzhi mark in iron-red and possibly of the period, the flaring sides well painted with a profusion of butterflies and Shuangxi Double Happiness characters, the top rim with key-fret, the interior and base turquoise, 12.3in(31.4cm) x 9.6in(24.5cm) x 10.3in(26.2cm) high.

A LARGE CHINESE YONGZHENG PERIOD MING STYLE 'LOTUS BOUQUET' PORCELAIN DISH, of saucer shape, the interior painted with a ribbon tied bouquet within a formal band of formal scrolling flowerheads, the exterior with a similar band within key-fret and scroll borders, the base unglazed, 15.25in(38.7cm) diameter. Bought Rangoon 1928. Damaged in a fire at the Mergui Customs House in 1935.

A 17TH/18TH CENTURY CHINESE DEHUA PORCELAIN CENSER, of archaic lian form, together with a fitted wood cover carved and pierced with ruyi motifs matching to some extent the three ruyi style feet supporting the censer, the banded sides of the censer with alternating underglaze key-fret and archaic cell designs, the censer applied with a lightly crackled cream glaze that covers the rim edge and part of the mainly unglazed base, 5.5in(14cm) high overall, the censer itself 5.8in(14.8cm) diameter at rim & 3.6in(9cm) high. Bought London 1927.
A CHINESE TEADUST PORCELAIN TRIPOD CENSER, bearing a moulded Qianlong seal mark and possibly of the period, the censer with a wide rim and the whole applied with an olive green glaze, the censer supported on three moulded mask form feet, 8.25in(20.9cm) diameter & 2.8in(7.2cm) high. Bought Rangoon 1930.
A GOOD LARGE PAIR OF CHINESE KANGXI PERIOD FAMILLE VERTE PORCELAIN VASES, fitted for electricity with gilt metal stands and fitted covers, the sides of each baluster form body painted with alternating figural river landscape panels reserved on a formal trellis scale and ruyi ground, within formal floral borders to the shoulders and foot, 20.75in(62.6cm) high overall, the vases themselves 14in(35.5cm) high.
AN UNUSUAL FINE QUALITY 19TH/20TH CENTURY CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE MOULDED PORCELAIN TRIPOD CENSER & COVER, together with a fitted finely carved and pierced wood stand the decoration of which matches the censer, the sides and cover of the censer moulded with peach, pomegranate, finger citron and other fruits, the cover with a finely modelled triple bat finial, the base of the censer with a Yongzheng seal mark, 12in(30.5cm) high overall, the censer itself 7in(17.9cm)wide at widest point & 10in(25.4cm) high to top of finial. Bought in Scott Market, Rangoon 1929.
