A pair of Chinese Wu Shuang porcelain bowls and covers decorated with figures and calligraphy, red seal mark to the underside, 10cms (4ins) diameter.Condition ReportSmall good quality repair to the rim of one cover and a very tiny chip to the rim of the other. Fritting to the rims of the bowls, otherwise good condition with no damage or repair.

*A Chinese porcelain bottle vase, in the famille verte palette, brightly enamel decorated with reserves of five-claw dragons amidst clouds, having borders of leaves and flowers, with Kangxi six character mark verso and probably of the period, h.40cmThe whole extensively damaged and has been glued back together.Condition report: Vase has been completely smashed, re-glued, and with some large chips showing.Enamel wear all over and some discolouration/staining.Provenance: Consigned from a local deceased estate, being descendants of Robert Heath (of Robert Heath & Sons, founders of the Biddulph Valley Colliery and Iron Works) who resided at Biddulph Grange between 1871-1922, and direct descendants of the Earls of Denbigh of Newnham Paddox.

Lot 67
A Chinese porcelain crackleware ginger jar and cover; decorated with warriors in battle etc. (25.5cm high)The Auctioneer states that there is a hairline crack to the cover emanating from the lip (the unglazed section inside) and this is also visible outside (see additional images). The hairline crack is approximately 4cm and is more visible on the inside than the outer edge. The main ovoid-shaped vase itself seems in pretty good order. The enamels are fairly bright although there are minor sections away (see images). The underside looks OK in terms of condition although it exhibits dark areas around the edge of the foot as expected. The inside of the vase looks quite dark and discoloured; so in conclusion the only concern is the hairline crack on the cover but it is difficult to discern as the whole of the body has an intentional crackle ware glaze. The main ovoid vase looks good with no chips, cracks or restoration noted.

Not in Hunt, Stafleu, or Great Flower Books, or Plesch and De Belder. Six engraved illustrations from this rare work by Pierre Joseph Buc'hoz, the first European to copy the oriental style, who aimed the publication at artists and naturalists, as well as porcelain and textile manufacturers. The plates here present are numbered 1, LXXIV, LXXXIV, LXXXVII and LXXXXIX.
