Six various Chinese porcelain dishes and a similar bowl, largest diameter 25cmCONDITION: There are two Imari dishes - both of which have been in two pieces and re-glued, one of which also has a connecting crack to the centre of the base, one of the Cantonese dishes has been heavily restored quite well although obvious when viewed from the reverse as it appears to be quite matt in appearance, famille verte dish has a chip to the rim.

Of tapering cylindrical form with convex mouth and recessed. foot surrounded by a footrim, painted in underglaze blue with a continuous scene of an eight-strong embassy on horseback greeting a figure at Desheng gate. Apocryphal Qianlong four - character mark. Depicting iron-red and green dragons racing amidst flower stems in pursuit of flaming pearls and separated by downward-swooping phoenixes below a narrow band of conjoined bajixiang and ruyi heads, with an iron-red dragon leaping amidst green flames in the interior. A Chinese porcelain pouring vessel 'kendi' vase, Qing Dynasty, 18th century, with flared rim on a long neck, bulbous body and a spout to its side, decorated in underglaze blue with two large reserves of flowers and sprays of flowers to the white ground, the neck with banana leaves and scroll borders, trefoil border to top rim, and two blue rings to the base of the body, base unmarked, with later white metal neck band with embossed decoration and a white metal spout cover, 5 by 8cm, the vase 15.5 by 13 by 24.2cm high.

(21) Provenance: from a deceased estate, Dorset. The famille verte beaker purchased from C P Sheffield on 23rd January 1986. The teapot, ovoid jar, waterpot and underglaze blue and red saucer purchased from Artemesia, Alresford between 29th August 1991 and 8th October 1999. Copies of the invoices are available.

]SIX CHINESE PORCELAIN ITEMS QIANLONG 1736-95 Comprising: a sweet meat tray made for the Portuguese market painted with stylised yellow flowers set amidst scrolling patterns, a moulded handle with the same design, and a pair of famille rose tea bowls and saucers painted with a scene of European children leaving their home, 17.5cm max. (6) The tray and handle come from one of three services made for Dom Josι Ribeiro da Fonseca Figueiredo (1690-1752), who was appointed as the Bishop of Porto in 1739 under the name of Dom Frei Josι Maria da Fonseca e Evora. Cf. N de Castro, Chinese Porcelain and the Heraldry of the Empire, pp.87-89 for illustrations of pieces from these services; see also Sotheby's London, 7th November 2007, lot 340 for a similarly decorated stand bearing the arms of Dom Josι Ribeiro da Fonseca Figueiredo.

A CHINESE POLYCHROME 'PRECIOUS OBJECTS' VASE 19TH CENTURY Decorated in enamels and underglaze blue with peony, magnolia and peaches growing within porcelain and bronze vessels, with further vases and bowls distributed throughout the scene, two containing scrolls and peacock plumes, the base with a six character Xuande mark, 36.5cm.
A CHINESE BLACK-GROUND VASE DECORATED IN THE MANNER OF CORNELIS PRONK 18TH CENTURY The square-section body painted to each facet with a leafy branch of redcurrants, with a band of stylised foliage encircling the foot, 28.7cm. Cornelis Pronk (1691-1759) was a Dutch draughtsman and painter who was employed by the Dutch East India Company from 1734 until around 1740 to create designs for porcelain. A number of Pronk's designs, including the decoration on this vase, were drawn from botanical studies and prints by the Dutch-Swiss naturalist Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717). Cf. Christie's London, 25th April 2017, lots 118 and 119 for a three-piece garniture and a pair of vases of the same design.
