Including a 17thc Chinese lidded porcelain bowl, painted with a floral design on a blue ground and with a collection label to the base (Hatcher Collection, Christies Amsterdam, 14-03-1984), 7.5cms high. Also with a Japanese Meiji period rectangular shaped lacquered box, decorated with butterflies and foliage and with a gold coloured interior, (18cms by 6cms), and an alabaster or onyx cylindrical brush pot (8.5cms high). (3). *CR Lacquered box, base of the box has a tiny nick to the rim, small nick to the base and some wear, inside rim of the lid has a couple of tiny nicks and a little wear, inside of the lid has a few spots of surface loss and small crack on one corner. Porcelain lidded jar, the inside of the rim has a couple of small nicks, small firing crack to the base and footrim, small nibble to the footrim, finial is plain in colour - possibly trimmed? Cylindrical pot, some red marks around the rim, some surface cracks to the base and some wear around the base.

Four character Kangxi marked to the base. 20th century. 25cm high approx. (2) (B.P. 21% + VAT) Tiny frit to the top of the vase (probably firing crack), otherwise no obvious damage.

Commissioned into the British Army in 1892, he served with the Indian Army in Tirah in 1897-98, and in 1900 he was sent to China as the leader of the British Section of the International Police, it is at this time he started collecting. The collection passed by decent to the current owner. Other items sold from his collection were sold at Christie’s South Kensington, 13th May 2011.
