Age: Qing dynasty Description: An exceptional jade Chinese faceted pale greyish blue jadeite snuff bottle with coral stopper. Skillfully faceted all over. An eight-pointed asterisk medallion centered on each side. Very well hollowed. Size: 2 1/2", 6.4 cm.Provenance: From a Westmount estateCondition: The stone of an attractive blue color mottled with grey. The faceted edges all sharp and crisp without any obvious chips. One of the 4 corners of the underside has a small flee bite that you could feel with your nail but cannot see with your eye. The neck appears tall and in its original length. The mouth is even in the way it's drilled with no chips or damage apparent to the neck or mouth. Your nail is not stopped along the edge on the neck. The stopper originally glued to the bottle. Recently separated. There is oxidized glue residue at the top of the bottle around the mouth. There is dirt and snuff in the interior of the bottle and cork residue adhered to the inside of the mouth. The spoon is missing. Very good condition considering age. Age: Qing dynasty Description: A very attractive Chinese greyish white nephrite jade snuff bottle of rectangular form embellished with a framework of gilt silver wirework with turquoise and coral cabochons. With flattened raised foot rim, well hollowed. Size: 2 3/8", 6 cm.Provenance: From a Montreal collectorCondition: Gilt silver mounted snuff bottle. The stopper is likely not original and appears modern. The jade underneath the mounting has natural fissure and inclusion. The Foot rim has 2 flea bit chips approx. 1mm in width. There is wear to the silver gilding. No loose elements in the silver. All the silver appears tightly affixed in place. The jade neck and mouth is visible underneath the silver at top. Upon examination with a flash light, there does not appear to be any damage underneath the silver. The bottle quite well hollowed with some residue and dirt in the interior. The Spoon made of wood.
