An 18th century Chinese armorial plate, central coat of arms and inscription 'Maintien le Droit' within a floral peony and chrysanthemum cobalt and terracotta gilt-heightened border, diameter 30cm, as listed in the accompanying book F A Crisp; 'Armorial China: A Catalogue of Chinese Porcelain with Coats of Arms in the Possession of Frederick Arthur Crisp', no.123/150, published 1907, the plate is illustrated to face page 8, also an 18th century Chinese plate with terracotta, cobalt blue and gilt-heightened decoration of peonies and chrysanthemums, within a blue concentric border rim decorated with irises and other flora, diameter 34cm. The two plates are held within a two-tier plaster gilt stand with scrolling and acanthus leaf decoration, height 69cm. CONDITION REPORT The stand has various cracks and missing pieces and is in need of restoration. The upper plate has no visible chips or cracks. The armorial plate has a long hairline crack from rim to centre of approx 14cm long, with no other visible chips or cracks.
