A Chinese Celadon Porcelain Vase, 19th century, with slightly flared rim and compressed ovoid body, circular foot, bearing seal mark of Emperor Qianlong in underglaze blue, 34.5cm high (the base drilled through the seal mark) Vase wobbles on its foot. There is a slight imperfection to the rim of the vase (done in the manufacturing). The vase is generally slightly scuffed and scratched, and there is a drill hole through the centre of the seal mark and this has caused a star crack emanating from it. Sold a/f. 010213

A Chinese Porcelain Bottle Vase, bears Qianlong reign mark, of ovoid form with slender cylindrical neck, painted in underglaze blue with scrolling lotus blossom within formal lappet panels, the neck with formal scrolls and arrowheads, six character seal mark, 20cm high Provenance: Bequeathed by the vendor`s grandmother, Lady Ethel Margaret Stronge, to the vendor`s mother Mrs Rose Ethel Richardson (nee Stronge) of Tynan Abbey, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, and then subsequently to her son, the present vendor. Lady Ethel Margaret married Sir Frances Stronge who joined the diplomatic service in London in 1879 (paper proof in the National Archive FO17 997). Records show him as serving in the diplomatic service in Peking in the same year. He served in the Supreme Court in Shanghai in 1885. From 1897-1907 he served in Central America. A letter with the family, dated 29 March 1925 refers to these two vases purchased some 40 years earlier at the latest. Any other details of provenance for these two important pieces are available upon request. Some very minor surface wear throughout. 190213

A Pair of Chinese Blue and White Export Porcelain Octagonal Meat Dishes, circa 1760, each centrally painted with a pair of fenhuang birds amongst rocks and peonies, with formalised butterfly ruyi head and scroll borders, 36cm wide; and A Similar Smaller Dish, 31cm (3) Dish 1 - general fritting around the rim and some kiln grit in the glaze. Some subtle firing cracks on the rim and typical tiny flakes. Dish 2 - similar condition to preceding but more heavily rubbed and scratched on the underside of the rim glaze. There is considerable kiln grit on the main design of the central reserve. Dish 3 (smaller) - numerous small chips around the rim. 050213
