A 19th century Chinese Canton porcelain charger; hand decorated in the famille rose palette; the border brightly decorated with flower heads and butterflies around a key fret border, the centre of the charger similarly decorated with exotic birds, a peony and butterflies with brightly coloured wings etc. (37.75cm diameter)No damage found, in good order.
A Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white Chinese three-footed porcelain censer decorated with three phoenix (one foot with historic chip) (9.25cm diameter) The outside of the censer has a smooth appearance, the inside has glaze dripping down from the lip and the rest of the inside is un-glazed. The underside is also un-glazed and exhibits discolouration as expected. One of the tripod feet has a very small chip to the end. Two of the feet have glaze bubbling etc. Apart from this the piece appears to be in reasonable condition. This has come from a good private collection. The glaze feels very smooth as though possibly the piece may have been shipwreck cargo; the glaze is also dribbled inside (please see close-up image) but the piece looks generally in good overall condition with no big chips, cracks or restoration noted.
A 19th century Chinese celadon glazed porcelain vase of baluster form; the front gilded and decorated with a large exotic bird upon an angular trunk, the reverse typically decorated in famille rose enamels with butterflies, birds, peony and sprigs etc., third quarter 19th century (heavily restored) (43cm high)The flared nack is extensively restored (see images), the gilding to the body is rubbed in places, the body with some enamel retouching.
A circular Chinese porcelain blue-and-white dish; six-character mark of Daoguang and possibly of the period, the well finely painted with a complex roundel of three phoenix amongst ruyi and a central lotus, the underside matching (19.25cm diameter) Please note: there is an approx. 1cm hairline emanating from the rim that is only visible under ultra violet lightA firing fault to the glaze on the base (see image) otherwise in good order commensurate with age. The shape appears to be very refined and the decoration is very good. Upon speaking to Chinese experts several have said that the item is actually mark and period Daoguang, the item is not perfect there is an original firing fault on the back and underside which is visible on the images on the website. There is one other issue which is under ultraviolet light, a 1cm “hairline” can be seen emanating from the edge of the rim inwards (again stressing that this only really viewable under ultraviolet light and can’t be seen with the naked eye.
