He turned to pottery much later, working initially in a pottery in Aarhus, Denmark (1961) and then in London, and eventually became a research student at the Royal College of Art in 1967-68, following which he established his own workshop in Surrey. He taught ceramics at St Pauls' School, London, until 1975 and made stoneware and porcelain pots in traditional Chinese styles with particular attention to the quality of glazes. Group of three Chinese porcelain Canton Famille Rose vases, ranging in height from 14.5cm to 23.5cm, the smallest of ovoid form with gilt lion mask handles, another moulded as a pouch with a ruffled neck and mouth with gilt 'Fo Dog' handles and the other of moulded flattened quatrefoil form, also with gilt 'Fo Dog' handles, decorated with panels of figures in pavilions, birds and butterflies. There are discolored glazing flaws throughout. Areas of loss to the glaze throughout, especially along the high points. There is general wear throughout consistent with age and use. Wear to the underside; along the underside of one of the statues there is a small round sticker; along the underside of the other statue there is residual adhesive affixed consistent with the aforementioned sticker.

Pair of 18th century Chinese export baluster porcelain vases. With bold stripes of pink, green, yellow, and black. Each with cartouches depicting figures in a garden, ribboned precious objects, and flowers.Each, height: 18 1/2 in x diameter: 8 in.Condition: Both vases show signs of minor wear. One vase has a crack along one of the main cartouches that extends horizontally to the right smaller cartouche. There is further evidence of repair under UV light in this area. The other vase has a small chip along the upper rim. Both lids have major repairs, visible under a direct light. There are minute white accretions throughout one of the vases, most visible along the black areas. There are a few areas along the painted stripes that appear to be touch-ups to the coloration; these do not appear to be restorations under UV light. General wear throughout consistent with age and use.

The metal components are corroded along the underside and they are very difficult to remove; as such the underside has not bee inspected. The lamp has not been tested for functionality.

Chinese celadon glazed garlic head porcelain vase, likely 19th century. With incised floral and foliate decoration throughout. With a carved wooden stand.Vase, without stand; height: 14 in x diameter: 9 in.Condition: There is crazing to the glaze throughout. There is a major oval-shaped firing flaw along the upper rim measuring approx. 2 in x 1.75 in. There is an additional small firing flaw along the body and a brown discoloration, possibly another flaw, near it. There is an area of especially thick glaze near the base of the neck, which causes a slight undulation to the form. There is wear and scratches along the upper rim, consistent with use of a lid. Wear to the footrim consistent with age and use. There is a small sticker affixed along the underside. To the wooden stand there are splits throughout the platform, notably three large splits. Decorated along one side with five figures in a garden gathering flowers and with script along the other.Height: 13 1/2 in x diameter: 8 in.Condition: Heavy wear throughout as shown in the listing image. Original firing and glazing flaws. The coloring has faded throughout the item. Along the exterior, there are two minute spots with white accretions adhered. Along the rim, there is a visible sign of possible grind-down; the areas is discolored. Along the rim, there are minute chips. Along the footrim, there are several scattered minute chips, discoloration, and minute cracks that do not affect the sturdiness of the item. When inspected under UV light, there are networks of fluorescent spots along the interior; however, they do not appear to be a restoration but natural developed corresponding to its age. One through the center of a large cartouche and one just to the right of the cartouche. There are minor losses to the paint throughout; minor losses to the gilt throughout. Along the underside there is a series of hairline cracks. There are four chips to the footrim.

Marked along the underside with a six-character Qianlong mark.Each, height: 7 1/2 in x diameter: 5 in.Condition: The head of one of the dragons along the top rim upon one the vases has been heavily restored. There is residual adhesive along the side of this vase. Along the underside of the other vase there is a small glazing flaw to the underside. Light wear throughout consistent with age and use.

Of globular form with profuse floral and foliate decoration and butterflies.Height: 9 3/4 in x diameter: 9 in.Condition: The jar is in good condition with no discernable restorations, cracks, chips, or losses. Light wear throughout; slightly heavier wear to the top rim and the lid consistent with the porcelain pieces rubbing against each other. There is a piece of tape affixed near the top rim. There are three stickers affixed along the underside of the jar. Some small firing flaws visible along the interior and underside. Some wear and accumulated dirt/dust along the interior of the jar. No visible restorations when inspected under UV light and direct light.

Chinese famille verte porcelain punch bowl, late 17th century. The interior is painted with a peaceful scene of a lone figure punting their boat through a mountainous river landscape. Decorated along the exterior with large warriors running and galloping on horseback through a landscape of mountains and foliage. The scene depicted is derived from the Ming novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" depicting foot soldiers with General Zhao Yun as the central figure galloping on horseback and wielding a heavy-bladed pole weapon or yanyuedao. Consistent with age and use, color glazing faded throughout. No visible chips to the rim. Along the margin, there are a few scattered areas with light brown accretions. No visible sign of restoration under UV light; along the margin, there is an area to one of the cherry blossoms that is fluorescent under UV light; however, it does not appear to be a restoration but the top layer of the paint is peeled off. Minute chips to the footrim. Along the underside, there are light brown accretions visible and minute chips to the surface that do not alter the overall appearance of the item.

It appears that there were two large pieces that were broken and reattached with one large crack radiating outwards from these two breaks. The radiating crack measures approx. 8 inches in length; the smallest break measures approx. 3 inches x 8 inches; the largest break measures approx. 6.5 inches x 8 inches. The blue color is slightly darker along the cracks. No cracks or chips to the other vase. Light wear throughout both vases consistent with age and use.

Group of three 20th century Chinese porcelain objects including a lidded cup and two plates. The plates are painted with elegantly dressed figures; one plate with an inscription or poem along the top of the plate. The cup decorated with flowering branches. Each plate marked along the underside with an inscription indicating production in Jingdezhen. The cup with a four-character Qianlong mark along the underside.Lidded cup; height: 3 in x diameter: 3 1/2 in. Plates, each; diameter: 8 1/2 in.Condition: Overall there are no visible chips, cracks or losses to the lidded item and the plate with the figure holding a fan. There is a minute uneven area along the rim but it appears to be original on the plate with the drawing figure; there is a minute chip along the rim. The footrim of each plate has three drill holes; please see the listing image. There are a few scattered areas with original firing flaws, particularly along the interior of the lidded item. There is discoloration along the rim where the cup and lid meet. There is discoloration along the foot rim. There are two areas of adhesive residue along the top of the lid, visible under UV light. There is no restoration visible under UV light.

There appears to be restoration along the outer edge of the lid and to the edges of the finial. Along the underside of the footrim there a series of hairline cracks. There is the wear to the footrim and exterior of both items.
