A good 'Satsuma' Vase, c.1870, of square section and after a Chinese Wanli bronze, the facets well decorated with a winged dragon amongst clouds and waves, the reverse with addorsed ho-o, between chrysanthemums growing from a banded fence or peony and bamboo, between false gadroon borders, traces of mark, 25cm The chrysanthemums growing from a banded fence, most commonly seen on Kakiemon porcelain and copied at the early English factories, feature in a poem by the Chinese Six Dynasties poet Tao Qian (365-427). The poem reads: 'I pluck chrysanthemums by the Eastern fence, And see the distant Southern Mountains'. CONDITION REPORT: A small part of gilt character mark remaining, along with blue shimazu mon. otherwise no obvious faults.

A blue and white disc, late 19th century, painted in underglaze blue with two dragons, 19.5cm, now in a chinoiserie table stand, a famille rose rouleau vase with an unusual subject with ladies spinning yarn in various ways in a house and garden, four character Qianlong mark, and two other vases, one with cover CONDITION REPORT: Porcelain being Chinese, the stand is a European copy. Small signs of restoration to stand at 8 'o'clock on frame. One rouleau vase, no obvious faults. Vase and matched cover, gilding to cover rim rubbed, neck to vase fully restored and body length fine crack. Taller rouleau vase, gilding rubbed to rim, tiny chip to rim and small chips to foot rim.

A porcelain blue and white ribbed Bowl, Wanli, late Ming dynasty,c.1600, painted on the exterior with flowering and fruiting branches, below a border of ten galloping horses over waves, the base with four character seal mark fu gui jia qi within a double rectangle, 21.5cm For similar bowls, see Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum, vol. II, pl. 1280, p. 725, where it states a bowl of this type with silver gilt mount by Jacob Borch and with a Copenhagen hallmark of 1608, is in the collection of Grosserer Holger Drucken, Copenhagen. CONDITION REPORT: A 15cm section of body professionally restored. Light fritting to rim. Small rim chip and chip to foot interior.
A Chinese blue and white hexagonal baluster Vase, c.1700, painted in underglaze blue in Arita style with feng and peony, below a ruyi border, 41.5cm At first sight, this vase is a classic example of Arita porcelain of around 1700. However, more interestingly it was probrably ordered by the Dutch from the Hongs in Japanese style when Chinese porcelain production was coming on stream again after Jingdezhen was sacked and when it became economically viable to trade in mass-production pieces from China once more. CONDITION REPORT: Rim frits. Small firing crack to foot rim. Firing dirt throughout.

OCTAGONAL PLATES - one with four rim chips, some small enamel losses and some fritting, rim gilding 99% missing; second plate, rim gilding 99% missing, five small rim chips, a small amount of enamel loss.
