By family tradition, this service (and the following lot) was used by the gentlemen of the Herefordshire Bow Meeting for a number of years in the 19th century, Established by John Arkwright, a keen archer of Hampton Court, in 1826 the members met for an annual competition at one of the principal estates of the county, a tradition that continues to the present day. ++One soup plate riveted, 1 plate riveted, two plates broken and restuck, two plates cracked, one plate chipped, sauce boat cracked, largest meat dish chipped. The other items in good condition including the tureen and cover, no restoration.
A 19TH CENTURY CHINESE TABLE SCREEN having a rectangular porcelain panel painted in underglaze blue with figures in an island setting, the reverse with mirror plate, in a moulded padouk frame and resting in a padouk stand with finely carved and pierced scrollwork rails between trestle type ends. 33.5cm(h) x 29.5cm(w) Condition Reports: Some separation to frame joints, some staining/marks, the mirror plate heavily spotted with remains of selotape to upper left corner.
