He married in 1719 Dorothy co-heir of Sir William Bowyer, Bt. The present plate is likely to have been one of several made at the same time as the Derby service for Sir Roger Gresley, 8th Baronet who married in 1821 Sophia Catherine Coventry, daughter of the 7th Earl of Coventry.
