CHINESE FAMILLE VERTE KANGXI PORCELAIN GINGER JAR Fashioned from Ta Ch`ing kaolinic porcelain ware made at the Imperial kilns at Ching-te-chen in the province of Kiangsi. The jar is of oviform shape with rounded shoulders and a short contracted neck and slightly recessed base. Decorated with four vertical white reserves with foliated upper corners alternately ornamented with the figure of a court lady. One holds a fan and the other a nosegay, posed on a balconied terrace, dressed in blue, green, yellow and aubergine draped robes with floating scarves. The other alternating panels have jardinieres posed on stands filled with flowering plants. The rounded broad shoulder has four foliated white serves each filled with one of the Pa Pao. All brilliant famille verte overglaze enamels upon a white ground. Bottom holds double ring mark. Kangxi period (1662-1722). Has reticulated wooden Bluett & Sons, London, England cover. Also includes reticulated wooden base. Measures 10 1/4" height x 3 1/4" base height (26cm x 8.2cm). Total weight of 2.94 kilograms.
