19th Century Chinese porcelain seated figure of Shou Lao, God of Longevity, in a green robe decorated with longevity symbols and floral motifs, length 12cm, width 8cm, height 24.5cm Provenance: Leonard Gow Collection, Ayrshire, Private CollectionCONDITION REPORT:Some signs of restoration on the base at the front, slight chips to base, restoration to back of head/hat, part missing to pig tail. Overall slight surface blemishes The figure is in very good condition, the left hand black hair has broken, approximately 0.5cm piece missing from LHS shoulder. The fingers are of different finish, and have possibly been restored, also the back of the head. There is a green disc again possibly restored but not obvious on the outer edge of the base there are some nibbles to the edge.

Chinese underglaze blue bowl and cover, with handles from a dragons head, decorated with panels of rocks and flowering plants, separated by bands of trellis diaper, cover to match, diameter 15cm (firing damage) Provenance: No.76 The Leonard Gow Collection, illustrated on page 21, and then by decent to current owners Sold along with a copy of The Leonard Gow Collection of Chinese porcelain, by R L Hobson C.B., No. 144 of 300 copies, printed by George W Jones, London 1931. CONDITION REPORT:The bowl and cover are in excellent condition throughout. However, the bowl has four firing cracks open and visible to the interior, two at each handle. In addition to this there is a large firing fault to the underside just above to the underside just above the foot.

A RARE CHINESE UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND COPPER-RED 'FIGURAL' DISH SIX CHARACTER KANGXI MARK AND OF THE PERIOD 1662-1722 The centre decorated with a large star-shaped panel of a lady daydreaming of her beloved, against a powder-blue ground, and a paper label for Marchant, 33cm. Provenance: from a British private collection, purchased from Marchant, on 7th December 2016, a copy of the invoice is available. Illustrated: Marchant, Exhibition of Kangxi Underglaze Blue and Copper-Red, 2016, no.12 A pair of dishes from the same set bearing the Kangxi marks is in the Butler Family Collection; one was previousy in the Collection Robert May, Zeist, The Netherlands, illustrated by The Earl of Lytton, Sir William Lllewellyn & Lawrence Binyon in the catalogue International Exhibition of Chinese Art, Royal Academy of Arts, London 1935-6, no.2676, p.231, pl.243. Dream scenes are rare on Chinese porcelain. A dish dated to Chongzhen (1628-44) in the Shanghai Museum, painted with Simau dreaming of a young woman singing, is illustrated by Antony White, Chen Xiejun and Wang Qingzheng in Seventeenth Century Jingdezhen Porcelain from the Shanghai Museum and the Butler Collections, no30, pp.124-125, where the authors also illustrate a Shunzhi dish (1644-61) from the Butler Family Collecton, painted with a similar scene, no 31, pp.130-131, together with a further dish with a dream scene, also from the Butler Family Collecton, dated to late Shunzhi or early Kangxi with a similar subject to the present dish.
*A MASSIVE PAIR OF CHINESE FAMILLE VERTE 'DRAGON BOAT' ROULEAU VASES QING DYNASTY Each cylindrical body finely painted with a continuous scene with figures standing on terraces and the riverbank overlooking the dragon boat carrying the Sui Emperor Yang along the canal, below decorative bands of Daoist Immortals, mythical beasts and auspicious objects, 79.5cm. (2) Cf: Hobson,Catalogue of the Leonard Gow Collection of Chinese Porcelain, pp 37, no.126 for a similar vase dated to the Kangxi period.
A FINE CHINESE IMPERIAL GREEN-ENAMELLED 'DRAGON' JAR AND COVER SIX CHARACTER QIANLONG MARK AND OF THE PERIOD 1736-95 The globular tapering body rising to a rounded shoulder and a short straight neck, painted in rich tones of green enamel with two five-clawed dragons striding amidst wispy clouds and flames in pursuit of flaming pearls, between the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang border around the shoulder and a band of lotus lappets encircling the base, the flat cover decorated with a writhing dragon chasing a flaming pearl above a ruyi-head border, with a paper label inscribed: 'Green & white jar and stand; from ..king, Oct 6 1879. Arrived Shales and ..packed Dec. 12. 1879. very good.' Together with a wood stand, 20.5cm. (3) Provenance: from the collection of Admiral Robert Coote CB (1820-1898), and thence by descent. Admiral Coote enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1833. He was made Commander of HMS Volcano from 1845, HMS Victory from 1860, HMS Gibraltar from 1864 and HMS Arethusa from 1867. In 1874 he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of Queenstown and served as Commander-in-Chief of the China Station between 1878-1881. Cf.
