Early 19th Century Chinese porcelain baluster vase with bronze mounts, Jiaqing, circa 1820, in 'Hundred Boys' style decorated in coloured enamels with children in a landscape flying a fish-shaped kite, playing with hobby-horses, blowing a horn, lighting candles, wearing a mask, holding a fan, etc., beneath a border of ruyi heads and a cast bronze rim, underglaze blue double rings marks over foot, raised on bulging pierced stand, the metal mounts probably contemporary to the vase, 34.5cm highCondition report: Mounts appear to be contemporary to the vase as catalogued. There is no clear evidence that the vase neck has been reduced, nor that the vase had a cover (judging by the rim moulding).Underside of vase cannot be seen ((bolted through base) but again this is of the period. Minor wear but overall very good condition.
Chinese Canton Famille Rose porcelain bowl, decorated with panels of peacocks and other birds amongst foliage, reserved on a floral scroll ground between chrysanthemum and foliate scroll rim and foot friezes, unmarked, 34cm diameter, with associated hardwood standCondition report: Dulling and wear to enamels and gilding around rim. Some wear to enamels on centre, possibly from a plant pot.Stand with significant losses to carved decoration.
Pair of monumental Chinese porcelain floor standing vases, of shouldered baluster form painted in the Famille Rose palette with five claw imperial dragons chasing a flaming pearl amongst clouds, reserved on deep blue ground, 217cm highCondition report: No post-production damage detected. However, the pots appear to be composed of two sections. There is visible horizontal line approx. 28cm long (presumably from the join) at approx. 25cm below shoulder line on one and smaller on the other – this gives the impression of glaze “creep”.Some painting flaws – the decoration is quite crudely applied in places reflecting fairly recent manufacture.Other decoration flaws noted:-Numerous glaze pops and areas of scuffing which do not detract from the impressive visual impact of these vases.
A CHINESE PORCELAIN BOWL decorated with butterflies and blossom on a celadon ground, underglaze blue seal mark to base, 11cm diameter; together with six tea bowls Condition Report : hairline crack to one of the teabowls Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting (where possible) any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
