A Liverpool, Seth Pennington tea bowl and saucer, c.1785, painted with the "Two Chinese Figures" pattern and with printed blue and white border, diameter of saucer 13.5cm, diameter of tea bowl 8.5cm. For pattern please refer to page 465 of Maurice Hillis Liverpool Porcelain. CONDITION REPORT The saucer has some light surface scratches otherwise OK. The tea bowl has a very fine 2.5cm hairline crack spurning from a 1mm x 2mm inner rim chip.
A Liverpool, Seth Pennington high Chelsea ewer, c.1785-1795, printed with the "Two Stags" pattern on a moulded body, height 8.7cm and a John Pennington helmet shaped ewer, c.1780-1790, printed with the "Chinese Lady with Boy and Bird" pattern, length 15.4cm (2). The high Chelsea ewer is referenced on page 465 of of Maurice Hillis Liverpool Porcelain and the John Pennington ewer referenced on page 429. CONDITION REPORT The high Chelsea ewer has been crudely restored around the spout and body and is wearing off. The second ewer has a 1cm x 5mm restored chip to the rim near the handle spurning a 4mm brown stained hairline crack, otherwise appears good with no further obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.
A Liverpool, Seth Pennington saucer c.1785, painted with the "Chinese Lady with Bird in a Cartouche" pattern, diameter 13cm and a matching tea bowl and sugar bowl by John Pennington, c.1785, decorated in the same pattern, tea bowl diameter 9.1cm, sugar bowl diameter 12.5cm (3). For pattern reference please see page 428 and 429 of Maurice Hillis Liverpool Porcelain. CONDITION REPORT Saucer has two or three minute chips to the foot rim but otherwise OK. Some minor staining to the edge of the sugar bowl and has two hairline cracks which means it does not ring true. The tea bowl is in good condition.
