Plaque has no damage or restoration. Decoration is bright with no wear. We believe this plaque to be possibly late nineteenth / early twentieth century. An exceptional quality Chinese reticulated porcelain double vase in the Imperial taste, the removable and rotating upper section polychrome decorated with fish amongst foliate reserves on a pink scraffito ground, mounted animalistic handles. The base, of ovoid form, having four circular reticulated panels decorated with dragons, bordered by flowers on a cream/pale yellow scraffito ground, raised on a lightly flared footing bearing a six character seal mark and transfers including a circular transfer inscribed Frank E. Pither Collection, No. 617. H. 31 cm, together with a circular pierced and carved base of interlaced form. Provenance: The Frank E. Pither Collection, referred to in The Connoisseur Magazine, June 1929, for the sale of Chinese Porcelain, Pottery and Oriental Works of Art.
