Decorated with a river scene, four character Kangxi mark, height 31cm, diameter 19cm.A chip to the lid and a rudimentary repaired chip to the lip of the vase, with further nibbles along the rim. A large Chinese painted scroll, early 20th century. Depicting a seated dignitary, 212 x 79cm, image size 107 x 60cm. Provenance: From the estate of William Arthur Blackburn Leach.DOB: 2nd Jan 1872.Leach was born in Norwich where he attended a local grammar school, later becoming an apprentice carpenter and engineer. In 1902 after he had qualified, he went to China where he obtained a position in the Public Works Department of the Shanghai Municipal Council. He spent his working life in Shanghai until he left in 1926.During his time in China he held interests in a Christian Mission school and helped to support street children.He seized every opportunity to visit other parts of China and took thousands of photographs. He purchased widely on his travels, particularly woodcarvings, bronzes, traditional kimonos, paintings and porcelain. He treasured silver items and bought much to take home. He travelled home at least four times during his stay in China and these return visits were round-the-world trips in which he travelled through and visited Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Egypt and The Holy Land, the Far East, Canada and USA.On his return to the UK he lived in Northampton where he was a lay preacher and a local councillor. He gave a great many talks on his experiences in China and the many other Countries he had visited.He died in 1962. The background paper has been torn at each end. The work itself is undamaged and unrepaired but does have some creasing, foxing and browning caused by the mounting paper

This decorative charger of good weight has no chips or nibbles and is in good order, but for a part of the gilt decoration to one of the floral panels around the central image. A Chinese porcelain vase, 19th century. Height 20.5cm, width 8.5cm, a Chinese prunus pattern ginger jar, circa 1900, height 13cm, width 11.5cm, a Chinese export porcelain blue and white plate, 18th century, diameter 23cm and two Chinese vases, heights 25cm and 15cm. (5)The ginger jar and plate are in excellent condition. The other three vases all have chips to the rim - please view extra images, but are otherwise in good condition. The tallest vase previously was used as a lamp base with drilled hole for wire, meaning it would no longer hold water.

Famille verte cover diameter , diameter cm, blue and white diameter 15.5cm, inner diameter 12.3cm, height 7.5cm; blue and white ginger jar cover height 3.4cm, diameter 12.5cm, inner diameter 11cm. (2)There are slight nibbles to the underside of the famille verte cover. Rubbing and loss of glaze decoration to round motif beneath finial. Blue and white with miniscule nibbles to the base of the cover.

A Chinese blue and white porcelain vase, Yuhuchunping, QianlongOf ovoid shape with everted rim, decorated with a continuous scene of fruiting trees and flowering plants including pomegranates, finger citron, grapes, pine, peonies and willow, the neck with a band of stiff banana leaves, the inside rim with a narrow diaper band.37.5cm high (small chip to foot rim)Provenance:Acquired in 1929 at a dispersal sale of the contents of Walcot Hall, Lydbury, Shropshire, thence by descent to the vendor.Condition:Small chip to the outside edge of the foot rim. Fine, faint crazing lines - not disfiguring.
A pair of Chinese Canton famille rose porcelain vases and covers19th centuryOf baluster form with twin dog-head and ring 'handles', the domed covers with lion dog finials, decorated with panels of high status figures in interior settings, surrounded by scattered flowers, foliage and precious objects.48cm high (2)Condition:One has two chips and a hairline to the cover and some fritting to the handles. The other has firing fractures and fritting to the finial, chips and fritting to the cover edge. Both have some minor rubbing to the gilt.
