A GROUP OF LETTERS WRITTEN TO SIR HARRY GARNER, including a letter from the King of Sweden written in 1962 profusely praising Sir Harry’s book on Chinese & Japanese Cloisonne and looking forward to Sir Harry helping the King in the formation of a royal sponsored collection; also two letters written to & from the curator of the King of Sweden’s collection; & two letters (1950 & 1962) written to Sir Harry from Sotheby, one of which remarks how ‘people will just not believe the amount of good porcelain made in China in the early 20th Century’; also a group of seven other letters written by Sir Harry to various people concerning his research and publishing; and an original black and white photo of Sir Harry examining a collection of early blue and white porcelain. A GOOD CHINESE YONGZHENG/QIANLONG PERIOD SILVER-MOUNTED AND MOULDED FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN VASE, circa 1730/40, the wood cover and neck rim with silver-metal mounts, probably Dutch in origin, the side of the baluster-form body moulded in high relief with bronze-form vases and foliage, and with rats amidst fruiting vine, the base unglazed, 11in high overall.
A VERY UNUSUAL 19TH CENTURY CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN VASE, mounted as a clock, the neck of the vase painted with landscape panels reserved on a ground of floral roundels and moulded with double dragon handles, the sides of the flattened body fitted with a 19th Century Continental clock face and movement, the vase 15.2in high.
A GOOD LARGE CHINESE UNDERGLAZE-BLUE & COPPER-RED PORCELAIN MOON FLASK, each side decorated with panels of the Eight Buddhist Emblems radiating from a central raised circular boss, the edges with scroll and leaf stemmed lotus beneath double scroll handles, the base with a Qianlong seal mark, 18.75in high.
A GOOD 18TH CENTURY CHINESE QIANLONG MARK & PERIOD UNDERGLAZE-BLUE & COPPER-RED PORCELAIN BOWL, the interior painted to its centre with a frond of lingzhi, the rounded sides rising to an everted rim and painted with arrangements of finger citron, peach and pomegranate, the base with a Qianlong seal mark, 8.1in diameter & 3.5in high.
