A Chinese porcelain ginger jar and cover, lid 20th century, decorated with figures and children at play in the garden exterior, stamped mark for Jiangxi Jingdezhen, a smaller example with similar decoration marked for Zhongguo Jingdezhen Zhi and two others, early 20th century. Tallest 21 cm, smallest 15 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both the ginger jars with the Ruyi head collar around the shoulder are in good condition with no obvious faults. The famille verte ginger jar lid has a 6 cm inverted Y shape crack which is visible on both sides. There is a further 3 cm hairline crack opposite. The enamels are slightly faded on the lid. The ginger jar itself appears to be in good order and free from any obvious faults including chips, cracks or restorations. The enamels appear to be intact with no major losses. On the ginger jar decorated with a figure on horseback with attendants and two females within a window the cover has been broken in two and glued. There is a large thumbnail size chip by the crack. From this chip issues a further 5 cm hairline crack. The enamels on the cover appear to be in good order. The ginger jar itself appears to be free from any obvious chips, cracks or restorations. The enamels all appear to be intact with no major obvious losses. All jars ring out nicely when lightly tapped.

Lot 65

A set of four contemporary Chinese porcelain printed and enamel plaques, each depicting a female beauty within internal and external surroundings, decorated with pine trees, willow trees, rock works, peacocks, cranes etc., each with lines of calligraphy mounted in wood frames. Image 17.5 cm x 12 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Of no significant age. Three panels are mounted in modern wooden Chinese frames. The panels appear to be free from any obvious chips, cracks or restorations when viewed in the frames. The frames themselves have minor knocks but otherwise all in good condition.

An 18th century Chinese Imari porcelain bowl, with under glazed blue panels of precious objects and iron red auspicious flowers. Diameter 22.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This item has been fully restored. There is overglaze all throughout the interior. There is a 9 cm inverted Y shape crack visible. There are scratches to the peony in the centre. The exterior is clean with only slight overspray on the restoration. The bowl rings out nicely when lightly tapped.

A Chinese Canton porcelain dished plate, 19th century, within gilt metal mounts and with foliate cast handle, decorated with birds and butterflies amongst auspicious fruits, with pseudo Tongzhi seal mark to the underside. Overall diameter 28.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are some small enamel losses but generally it is all complete. There are no obvious chips, cracks or restorations visible. The gilt metal mounts are in good decorative order.

A Chinese porcelain lozenge shaped bowl with matching plate, 20th century, each decorated with a dragon amongst blossom and chrysanthemums within a lotus flower and scroll border, each with four character "De Long Ding Zhi". Diameters 33.8 cm and 20.8 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The gilding to the plate rim is slightly rubbed. There do not appear to be any obvious chips, cracks or signs of restoration. The enamels all appear to be intact and in good order. The plate rings out nicely when lightly tapped. The gilding to the oval pedestal dish is lightly rubbed around the rim. There are no signs of any obvious chips, cracks or restorations. The foot rim appears to be free from any chips. The enamels appear to be in good order with no losses. There are some small scratches in the yellow ground (on a clock at 2 o'clock, 7 o'clock and 10 o'clock). The bowl rings out nicely when lightly tapped.

Lot 93

A near pair of Chinese porcelain hat stands, 20th century, one decorated with a female in landscape and inscribed poem and seal mark, the other with dogs beneath a pine tree, each with gilt rims. 28.8 cm and 28.3 cm respectively (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both hat stands appear to be in good sound order with no obvious chips, cracks or restorations. On the vase with the Tongzhi seal mark the majority of the gilding around the rim is rubbed and also around all the pierced quatrefoils. Issuing from the pierced quatreform above her head is a very fine 12 cm crack which finishes at the top of her fan. A smaller length crack can be seen on the interior. The enamels are faded and worn specifically around the grass and the female figures dress. The seal mark has been applied with a rubber stamp. The vase decorated with puppies has the majority of the gilding on the rim erased. There is gilding evident around each of the pierced quatreforms. The enamels are a little faded particularly on the black rock to the left of the pine tree and also the yellow of the pup to the left of the pine tree. This vase has no reign mark. There is a very very fine hairline crack in the glaze to the right of the lady's head starting at the pierced quatreform running all the way down to her fan. There are numerous images online which should highlight this. A Chinese porcelain bowl and cover, 20th century, decorated with an Emperor with attendants being presented a gilt censer and scrolls, verso figures in clouds looking on a figure with attendant on horseback, small gilt handles, pseudo Qianlong stamped mark, and a 20th century Chinese porcelain bowl depicting 18th century Europeans on horseback with foxhounds, pseudo six character mark to base. Bowl and cover height 20.5 cm, bowl diameter 25.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The bowl featuring the Europeans is a modern reproduction and is free from any obvious chips, cracks or restorations. It rings out nicely when lightly tapped. The gilding to the lidded pot is worn and erased in parts. The lid appears to be free from any obvious chips, cracks or restorations. The enamels are in good order and free from any obvious losses. The pot has minor rubbing to the gilt line around the shoulder. The applied lugs have rubbed gilding and one is missing an iron handle. The remainder of the body appears to be in good order and free from any obvious chips, cracks or restorations. The enamels appear to be in good order and free from any obvious losses. The pot rings out nicely when lightly tapped.

A Very Important Rare Private Collection of 18th Century English Blue & White PorcelainThe following Collection was amassed over 50 years by a well-known Irish Collector, and consists of the following Items:1.Worcester Tea Bowl painted with the prunus root pattern circa 1765. Open crescent mark on base. The lobed (or notched) rim is quite unusual on the prunus pattern as mentioned in Bonham's catalogue, part 1 of the Zorensky collection of Worcester porcelain (lot 364) 16 March 2004. A plain Tea Bowl with notched rim together with a press-moulded fluted saucer was sold by Phillips (now Bonhams), in the Watney sale (lot 604) on 10 May 2000, They fetched £1050 plus commission, (see catalogue). 2.Worcester saucer painted with the prunus root pattern circa 1765. Crescent mark on base. Provenance: Purchased from Roderick Jellicoe, 18th century English porcelain specialist. The dealer's label is on the base.3. Worcester Saucer painted with the prunus root pattern. Workman's mark on base. Circa 1755-1760.4.Worcester Tea Bowl painted with the prunus root pattern. Slight chip to footrim. Workman's mark to base. 1755-60.Note: Numerous peculiar marks were used on Worcester painted Blue & White tea wares. In the absence of any definitive explanation for the purpose of these marks they are referred to as Workmens' marks. They were used between c. 1752-605. On the sale of the Caughley factory in 1779 the new owner, John Rose ceased manufacturing soft paste porcelain and changed to bone china, the formula having been recently discovered by Josiah Spode. It is possible that Rose or the previous owner Turner had added some of the new clay creating a hybrid paste. Either way the bowl is Caughley soft paste porcelain pre 1800.21.
